  • Did it? That's not how I remember book reports.

And this does have useful information.

  • No shit? Really? Wow, thanks guys! I never would have guessed that were it not for the hard working folks at the Pentagon!

    😐

  • Based just on this, I'd suggest looking into OpenSuse Tumbleweed. It's got the reliability you need for your university work, all the software you need, and is about as close to bleeding edge as you can get without cutting yourself.

If, however, you're also looking to gain a deeper understanding of how your system works, and don't mind (or enjoy) troubleshooting problems yourself when they crop up, Arch is excellent.

  • It's like 700 words, dude. It's shorter than a 6th grade book report.

  • Oh the explanation is… complex. There are a long list of factors involved. I'm going to give you one, as I see it.

Through charisma, lies, corruption, and misdirection, our education system has been destroyed. Anything resembling logic or even basic rational thought is something you have to teach yourself in America. So, we have a massive population of ignorant folks vulnerable to nonsense, including evangelical Christianity.

Evangelical Christianity isn't actually about saving souls or whatever. It's about keeping the populace ignorant and looking at bullshit so the "conservative" leadership can rob everyone, lining their pockets and stoking as much fear and division as they can.

That's one part of why people aren't in the streets. There are many, many moving parts to what's fucked in modern America. And personally, I'd rather just say fuck it and leave at this point.

  • I haven't really looked back after I left Reddit. I have stopped on a Reddit page because of a search result, that's about it.

  • This is crazy left-field, but I always recommend Ranma 1/2 and Urusei Yatsura. They aren't, like, a lot like what you're asking for, but they're both absolute classics of manga and had an incredible influence on shonen manga the came after them. Both are upbeat, both are funny (especially UY) and full of action (especially Ranma), and are just generally great reads.

If not that, Assassination Classroom is pretty amazing, and maybe closer to what you're asking for.

  • $14 isn't bad for a complete game free of microtransactions, especially one with as much content as FFT.

If that's too much, but you don't like free to play economy stuff like gacha (I agree with this, BTW), then I suggest emulation. You can get ppsspp and Joan of Arc or Ogre Battle, for instance. Both are great games, full of the tactical goodness you're looking for.

  • What the hell? Look, man, I hate the guy but he's remarkably consistent: he works for his interests. Even when he does dumbshit things like buy Twitter, the thinks he's operating in his interests.

He's not complicated. He's a self absorbed piece of shit. That's really all you ever need to know about the fucker.

  • I disagree. Don't get me wrong, vim is amazing and all that, but I think nano is easier for new users to grok out of the box, making it a better choice most of the time. What it lacks in features it makes up for in transparency.

100% agree about the minimal set of desktop apps, though. That drives me crazy.

    Just my 0.02$.

    Edit: silly mistakes and clarification

  • This was my immediate thought. It ticks all the boxes.

  • This is horrifying and should absolutely be shared... but I feel like OP may have missed the point of this community. Any chance you wanna maybe remove this post and put it somewhere else?

  • On Windows, Paint(dot)net. On Linux, Pinta!

  • Oh, look, it's my surprised face again:

    😐

  • I feel like the 2020s will be remembered as the Decade of Enshitification.

  • I agree, but this is the internet. You have to /s that shit or someone is going to take you seriously. It seems to be better here than it was on Reddit, but still...

  • I think it's supposed to imply none of your business...

  • I will cheerfully shit on Amazon every day, which is why shit articles like this piss me off. Amazon does plenty of real harm, but articles like this give this make people think "well, if this is their workplace mistreatment, then it's not that bad."

It is that bad, but this isn't an example of that. This could happen anywhere, to anyone, even the most ethical company/co-op/whatever on the planet. They handled it well. So let's go after them for actual shit instead.

  • Kinda feel like if we charge every member of the GOP who should be charged, we'd basically be indicting half of Congress...
