  • I would happily keep slaving my phone to my car to avoid paying for extra services.

  • Not on Reddit or YouTube or anything else that serves ads from the same domain.

  • Sometimes the most complex problems require simple solutions

  • I think the response is meant to be tongue in cheek.

  • Yeah, that was my point.

  • Sure, but if we want the typical consumer to choose an EV over an ICE then it would need to be cheaper.

  • This isn't Reddit, there's no account-wide tracking of special Internet points to worry about.

  • Eh, that's a bit disingenuous in terms of consumer cost though. Where I live, gas is $3.90 per gallon and electricity is $0.19 per kWh. That puts gas at $0.11 per kWh. That still puts the Escalade IQ at 58mpg, but it's getting awfully close to some (admittedly much smaller) hybrids. And that's not to mention that that's the price for home charging - public charging is closer to $0.40 per kWh. That still puts it around half the cost per mile of a gas Escalade.

With a starting price of $50k more than the gas model you're talking 300,000 miles to break even (assuming 100% home charging).

  • Nah, not at all that high. A typical EV gets around 3-4 mi/kWh, which is about 4-6.5km.

  • Thanks! I don't get to play much so this will help.

  • A 200kWh battery pack to get 450 miles of quoted range. 2.25mi/kWh. I understand it's competing for the attention of people who would otherwise buy a gas Escalade, but that's still a little crazy.

  • I'm just wondering where the heck the PC port is. Not going to lie, I would buy it at full price if it were steam deck compatible.

  • You can also just browse "subscribed" instead of all.

  • Views that show you multiple communities would be great. Let me see both major Steam Deck communities in one view.

  • It makes sense that general purpose instances would have the most users. I'm not a programmer so while I could still register there why would I pick programmer.dev?

The bigger issue I had in picking an instance was just in understanding the differences. I think it would help if instances advertised their stance on defederation, moderation, etc... to help people make a decision (or even to see that lemmy.world may be more similar to some other instances than they might think).

  • Because it is chromium based, it also does nothing to discourage sites from only supporting chromium based browsers.

  • Inoreader is decent. I just don't like how many features are locked behind a subscription. And some don't make sense - downloading articles to your own device requires a subscription. I'm totally fine with features that actually put load on their server requiring a subscription, but downloading an article vs reading it live certainly does not.

  • I'm super annoyed by audio latency and my Momentum 4s are the first Bluetooth headphones I'm able to use while gaming without being irritated.

  • So I'm your husband and my wife is you. I can tell you the reason I do it is that it can be difficult for me to necessarily formulate exactly what I want to say about what I want to show you. I want to share whatever experience it is, but trying to explain exactly why stresses me out.

On the flip side my wife will just tell me what she saw after the fact and I'm left there thinking "...why didn't you tell me to come look."
