i recently bought a thinkpad t420 for about 50$ and a new battery for 30, it only has 4 gb of ram, so i think that would be a bit too small for your purposes, but i don't think it is an unreasonable idea to find something with a bit more memory for a bit morei'm no laptop expert, but thinkpads have a good reputation, i've seen fujitsu-s are repair friendly toosearch 2nd hand markets available to you, fb marketplace (i know, but it works)
still, there are two polarities, so if you put two on top it completely blocks the light, but if you put a third, it lets one polarity through againit makes no intuitive sense, because quantum (but i've seen it happen irl in high school)
i haven't seen those guys much but based on the little i've seen, i think they believe whatever makes the most amount of money
