  • idk what circles you guys live in but I grew up in rural south and been living a decade in Berlin. If a German talks to a German and they are not doing nerd talk and are just commoners having a chat they have been and still are using the word "handy". It still is the most commonly used word to describe a mobile phone in German language

  • yeah you can see all donation transparently on the donations section (unless u opted for anonymous) and fortunately it's looking like it's going quite well. I assume the creator actually has some more employees now or at least professional help for all the translations of the app as it seems to be available in a lot of languages.

  • Weawow is a completly (also ad-)free weather forecast app run basically solo by a Japanese guy. I was surprised when I found this app that it was so good in every aspect that I had to donate the guy. It has has more than half a Mio. reviews on google play with an average of 4.9 . Idk of any free app with that many reviews having this kind of rating, well deserved.

    Further honorable mentions:

    • Vivaldi browser
    • Joplin notes app
    • nextcloud
    • wikipedia (obviously)
    • Öffi
    • Signal
    • keepass
    • rif for reddit (R.I.P)
  • Every time it amazes me that noone give a fuck about usenet since before the internet existed 😂

  • I lol'd

  • thx for the considerstions. I thought there should be a better way for thumbnails which really should not be the exact size as the image itself. If this is a Lemmy problem itself then I am happy to bring this issue to the Lemmy maintainers. It's a waste of data/energy, just pointless.

  • So why was "reddit is fun" called so until the end then?

  • Well luckily we are not bound zo Reddit tos anymore 🤗

  • wefwef is a progressive web app. It's something inbetween a native mobile app an a traditonal web app u would load in your browser(aka the user interface of your homepage). They have certain advantages but also disadvantages like performance and dependemcy on specific browsers etc. Basically everything you download from app stores like Google play are native mobile apps everything else runs in a browser or some container of it (roughly summarized)

  • Most kind of seed, like Flaxseed. However eating raw seed is super dry. I try to mix it with low fat yoghurt and/or add a fruit like Dates for a bit of sweetness

  • btw his birth house can almost be seen on the pic, guess it's shadowed by a bigger building though

  • lol yeah strong stream today cause of rain obviously ;-) I guess it looks more clean usually

  • The problem is that it's hidden in the "post Url" section when creating a new post. When u press the arrow uo it opens the android file selector

  • Just uploaded my first photo here using the "connect for Lemmy" app and it was a bit weird. For some reason it gave me the choice of 2 different communities to post in even though I was on pics@lemmy.world Also the app is using the android default file selctor which is again more inconvenient that I was used from rif. Also the pic itself is uploaded to the instance your account is signed into, which is fine and I guess one has to get used to the federated technology first. However the image upload kind of relies on the stability of your account main instance I guess.

  • this is the way
