  • I have not looked at the CVEs in Rsync specifically, but given the deludge of "critical" security issue found by AI lately that have been mostly nothing burgers, I am near certain the same applies to those included in that Rsync patchset.

  • The ones in Nginx and the Linux kernel.

  • The "critical" bugs that I have recently seen being found by AI were all extremely unlikely to be exploitable under realistic assumptions 🤷

A good life for the 99% isn’t a pipe dream: it can be done.

  • That's mostly just speculation and it needs someone to sue for it to become relevant 🤷

  • They started to get really pushy about the premium features, so I removed it again.

  • They could have just refused merging slop. Rsync didn't need these "contributions".

  • Taking a project that works fine and making it actively worse by introducing AI made bugs is imho a valid reason to hard fork. The maintainer might not owe you anything, but it shows very poor judgement to slopify a good project like rsync this way.

  • This comes close to reinventing monastic orders.

There is a cool sci-fi book about this idea. Not exactly Solarpunk, but some aspects are overlapping.

  • The plants shut down were all over or near their design lifespan and about half a century old.

Even if Germany had decided to continue with nuclear power it would have had to replace all of them with new reactor blocks.

  • Nokia and Ericsson are theoretically competing, and these talks about bans are likely the result of their lobbying efforts.

  • The main dev can be easily reached through the official Peertube Github repo.

  • History written by the winners is ok according to you as long as you agree with it. That is really funny.

  • Being critical of sources is paramount in historical research 🤷

  • More fan-fiction and post-hoc justifications. You seriously need to read some historically accurate accounts of what happened at the time.

  • Taking over state power by raising a militia is not organizing. Even Castro famously agreed with that.

Sorry but more circular logic is not gonna cut it. If a group of people no matter their original class decide that they are better suited to rule than others and ursurp power then they declare themselves monarchs and certainly do not represent the working class.

  • More historical inaccuracies. The first people the Bolshevik purged were people that naively thought they were on the same side.

And no, the original Soviets wanted to create self-administered communities and work-places. Taking over centralized state power makes no sense with that goal in mind.

  • "Reciepts" to fan-fiction are worthless 🤷

  • I am aware that I am not going to win this argument here on lemmy.ml which has long purged or actively driven away anyone that isn't deep into the fan-fiction you seem to agree with.
