  • If I find bugs that affect me or want to add features, I can tackle that myself and send them the patches. I've already done this to great extent with LibreOffice and Avogadro 2, plus some small contributions to other programs.

  • Think of dark humor as a risk-benefit thing. Not all dark humor is equally risky, some jokes are harmless, while others can really hurt people out there. You can ruin someone's day so easily. I hope this doesn't discourage you from posting though, just please be nicer to your peers here :)

  • I know a few friends that unfortunately suffered this. They are now in very bad mental health and have issues with intimacy, socializing and whatnot. I'd say this post is distasteful at best...

  • Well, I don't support people trolling within or across instances, but I think ideologies of any kind should be tolerated. I upvote any political post as long as it is intended to be honest, fun or otherwise constructive for us. Also in my opinion it's nice to be reminded that whatever your side is, the other side is always right in one thing: you are being manipulated.

  • Yeah, I was aware. So, basically, at some point during manufacture, the coffee comes into contact with methylene chloride to remove caffeine. Methylene chloride and water don't mix, so the end product contains 1 part in 10000000 of it (according to the article).

    Personally I wouldn't worry about that. Just the temperature of the coffee or the small amount of dust that falls into it before you drink it have a much larger impact on your health. It's like worrying about a squirrel falling into your windshield when you're driving at 100 mph.

  • Well, I hope to finish it as soon as possible. Unfortunately I've made very little progress this summer... My goal it synthesize proteins and DNA, which would make research much cheaper.
