  • This is the key sentence of this article:

Buying the phone is increasingly just the entry fee for Google’s AI ecosystem.

  • Tumbleweed. 😋

  • I installed Cinnamon the other day, because I remembered it to be easy to use. It is.

But. It looks dated to me. Could really use a facelift. Maybe it's just me, but in light of modern user interfaces Cinnamon is functional, but not a looker anymore. Zorin OS and Gnome in general, for example, show how it can be done.

    Maybe just me...

  • Same.

Here some data for the global audience:

    • Current distance from Earth: ~15 billion miles → 24 billion kilometers.
    • Speed: 38,000 mph → 17 km/s relative to the Sun.
    • Annual travel distance: ~900 million miles → 1.45 billion kilometers per year.
    • Tape length: 1,076 feet → 328 meters.
    • Tape width: 0.5 inches → 1.27 cm.
    • Tape durability: Designed to withstand 4,350 km of tape travel before wear.
    • Diameter of the golden record: 12 inches → 30 cm.

  • This is hard. Sovereign class is awesome, for sure. So was the Galaxy class. Love the NX design.

If I could have my own Delta Flyer, I'd not have to think twice - Iove the interior.

Otherwise I enjoy the design of the USS Equinox (I don't know which class that ship is) or the USS Prometheus.

I have a weird fascination with the Enterprise J.

The Scimitar is a looker, if you ask me.

    So many awesome ships...

    The Bajoran Solar Sailor anyone?

  • Reopen The Consumerist.

They famously gave EA the "Worst Company of the Year" award, complete with a golden poo. Although that was subjective (there's definitely worse companies), it had an impact.

  • Because we don't care about our burgers. We want their money.

  • OpenSuse Leap (or if you're adventurous, Tumbleweed) can safely be placed here too.

  • 'I have nothing to hide."

  • Sisko hasn't returned yet. The 'Prophets' live outside of time. His return to his family/this alteration of the timeline might not have happened yet, because we experience and perceive time as linear.

There's probably issues with this reasoning.

  • That's not how you spell "Windows 7".

XP properly started the rubbish which keeps piling up in Windows 11. Remember the online activation, for example?

Still, Windows XP was much more user friendly/user respecting than 11 is.

  • How do you notice all these details? Amazing work. Every single time.

Thank you. Always a pleasure to read.

  • Do any of you make your own dog food? What do you use to keep things affordable and healthy?

  • Wisdom in it's purest form.

  • An OpenSuse distro. Something like Tumbleweed should run quite well on a machine like your Dell.

  • True. Still, afaik, they haven't done anything shady.

  • I've been there myself. The smarty who thinks he knows everything. Giving people advice about stuff I knew nothing about. "I understand."

Man was I a moron sometimes.

    Probably still am on occasion.

  • Radical idea. What about paying everyone the same, Janitor and CEO? That would truly value everyone's hard work, regardless of which work it is.

But that would take a shift in how we perceive work and what we work for.

  • Dogs @lemmy.world

Dog behaves respectfully with me, but rough with family – advice?

  • Games @lemmy.world

Privacy respecting "Charades" game for Android

    Best vertical games on Android?
