  • Each new VM would get a smaller and smaller amount of resources available to it, and as you nest VMs, things start slowing down due to overhead. Think of a hallway. You have to take messages from one end to the other end for instruction processing. Each further nested VM has a longer and longer hallway.

  • “You pay for how many streaming services??? You could start building a decent DVD/BRD collection that you own forever.”

“Yea but I hate swapping disks and I watch on my phone.”

“Gather around, let me tell you the story of a fin made of jelly.”

  • I’m running Proxmox and hate it. I still recommend it for what you are trying to do. I think it would work quite nicely. Three of my four nodes have llama.cpp VMs hosting OpenAI-compatible LLM endpoints (llama-server) and I run Claude Code against that using a simple translation proxy.

Proxmox is very opinionated on certain aspects and I much prefer bare metal k8s for my needs.

  • I can still find 480p videos from when YouTube first started that rival the quality of the compressed crap “1080p” we get from YouTube today. It’s outrageous.

  • That’s where they are trying to use AI to replace ATC workers. It was on the news a while back that SpaceX was trying to win contracts in that space, but I could be misremembering.

  • The original Naruto series has its moments. The first two or three arcs hit me throughout several times.

Hunter x Hunter has friend dynamics like that and can turn up the feels with missing father throughout.

  • It’s not a war on drugs porn, it’s a war on personal freedom, OK? Keep that in mind at all times.

  • If they strike during a shutdown, what’s stopping them from bringing in private companies to replace the ATC workers? They’re literally taking money from billionaires to pay for some military shit and nothing is stopping them. I mean we’re so cooked.

  • How can I subscribe for more language nuance explanations?

  • Star Trek Enterprise, Tripp needs some organ donations if I remember right. The doctor clones him for organ harvesting and the clone is terminated to save the life of Tripp.

  • My favorite is PrettyFlyForAWiFi

  • If we are to ever become an enlightened species, it’s important to understand that this, too, is part of humanity. Humans commit terrible atrocities, and it’s in our nature to do so. “Absolute power corrupts absolutely,” and all that. How can we overcome this as a species and become the caretakers our planet needs? I think the theory behind capitalism was to say “greed is good” and try to make a system that was fair. Spoiler alert, it didn’t work. Maybe we need a new capitalism-like idea that looks at humanity’s attributes and tendencies and tries to incorporate them into a Good Thing somehow. Definitely what we’re doing today across the board isn’t working.

  • I’m out of the loop, what’s that about Audacity? Looks like they still have a github repo with very recent activity and Wikipedia says their trademark was acquired by a company in 2021.

  • I hope the EFCore migration will make it easier to eventually support external databases like Postgres

  • The ratchet effect will ensure #3-5 never happen. I think we need to forget about #1-2 and go for #3 first and start treating 1/4 and 2/5 as the same.

  • I found a nanoleaf string lights and wanted to set it up. I stumbled upon some negative reviews, tho… how well does nanoleaf work offline with e.g. home assistant?

  • GP’s list contains products/services. I believe they are asking how do self hosted products compare. Also ollama is transitioning to a paid product and likely have privacy questionable functionality embedded in newer versions. It would be good to compare these available options as well.
