  • Arch is great in my opinion

I'm not sure, if it was just my young age/experience with Debian, but now with Arch I could always save a system. With apt I sometimes preferred a complete re-install.

I actually really like Arch(& Arch based systems).

If that is the public opinion with C++ and Arch, I'll need to re-evaluate my masochistic tendencies, it seems

  • I already have Kodi on my media server - although currently it's...under construction

Hmm...not sure, if I had the same problem there. Will need to revive it anyway.

    Thanks for the input :-)

  • 2 or 3

I guess signal has more to lose in reputation, than Canada brings them as country

For the other ones, I don't know

  • Hehe, cheers ;-)

  • Yeah, well...

It's currently about my wife and me too understand things, when we're laid out on the couch

So, there is no real center position or the real possibility of us both wearing headphones.

It just can't be, that movies aren't made to be consumed on a local TV (rofl, auto correct wanted to make THC out of it ;-))Anyway, there must be a solution to consume current media somehow, and still understand the probability miserable dialogues, while still being able to allow for effects of a bomb, without alarming my neighbours

For real now, who the fuck has the setup and possibilities to actually follow a current movie?

  • And I fucking love it

I hate java with a passion, C# was fun (but at that time only available through the .Net nightmare) and I grew up with (Turbo ;-)) Pascal and C

So, I'm feeling rather comfortable and at home with C++

I'd like to do a bigger project in Rust once at least, but with my current project already the compile times are between 20/25 to 45mins (depends, if you have the build server available or if you need to make up with the IPC).so, I guess, those iterations would become even longer with Rust

But I'm also having the advantage, that my applications are running very, very isolated. So I don't really need to take care about exposure and attacks.

Still... Finding a memory leak or some shared memory fuck up is everything but fun...

Especially as most of the logic runs in kernel space and debugging possibilities are mostly reduced to traces/log files

Still, I love itMaybe it's because of the thrill ;-)

  • My business trips aren't that fancy

I am physically exhausted after spending some weeks, practically without a free day, in a fucking warehouse

I'm always just so happy to be home again and have all the stuff I've wanted to do, that I dreamed up during suffering on site. But I'm too exhausted to actually do anything...

Still, the first night is always the best

Came home last time, after working with a fever/flu again, and just wanted to drop dead. But the euphoria of being home again keeps me going for the first night.Which pretty much means, I'll have a few beers and talk with my wife. Can't do anything reasonable, but I really enjoy those few hours

  • Even getting back late from a business trip, the first night (or whatevers hours are left) are the best partI'm happy to be at home and I'm finished for the day

The days afterwards can even be kinda work free (only doing minor things like accounting and stupid shit like that), but if the stress falls away, I'm usually getting sick and the body demands it's time to recoverFirst night though is one of celebration

  • Uff, thanks for the input, but that sucks

Was hoping for rather simple fix, because current movies aren't actually watchable at homeEven in the cinema, the sound effects are turned up to 11, and sometimes the actors still whisper and can be hardly understood

At least most blockbusters don't even have a real story to follow anyway...

  • Yeah, like with pretty much every endangered animal - we either hunted it down or took away their habitat

That's exactly what the article is about.A large coal mine isn't compatible with wildlife, but solar farms, if planned correctly and with the right circumstances, can be.

    And that's a good thing

  • I was thinking, that this is a problem for stereo setups, because movies are mixed for 5.1/7.1

Was thinking to get a soundbar, but if I can fix this in a configuration on the TV, that would be cheaper. What should I look for?I've already played around with different audio options on the TV, but it didn't really help - or was better for one movie, but not for the next thing...

  • That's hard to hear and I'm sorry for you

And honestly, I feel you very muchIn my late youth I got a deep cut in my left little finger, which also cut a tendonCan't move it that good anymorePretty much immediately, after letting it heal for 4-6 weeks, I tried playingAs I also have nerve damage, I don't really feel much in the finger as wellI could play some simpler chords, but after showing myself, that I still could, if I want, I pretty much stopped playingProbably, because I don't want to see, that's it's just not working anymore, like it used to...

Still have a half-acoustic and an electrical one in my apartment, but neatly packed away and ready to pick up, if I ever get a real urge to try it again

  • I do remember it as worse, when it was Windows 98 and Win 7 - not even taking about the horror that Win 8 resembled

And coming back to it from time to time, because I need it for a stubborn program (really, Datalogic, get your shit together) or because I need to help family, it has gotten so much worse since that...

  • To be fair, he said something about built-inBut I'm with youThe choice of high quality ad Blockers per addon is nothing that's wrong with Firefox

  • Thank you :-)

  • Well, you should have seen the face and tears in the eyes of my neighbour who picked her up originally.

Yeah, she lives with us now and she is happy. That's fine

But they've chosen each other on the street and he made the adult choice to ask us, to care for them, because they currently can't.

And he is trying his best to change that as fast as possible - as far as I know, they already found a place and want it's now about payment, loyalities and whatever the fuck I don't know about

The mother cat always happily greets him, when he comes for his daily visit. But I have to admit, that the cat fell in love with my wife...

So there doesn't matter how this ends, there will be tears

I'm currently just trying to hold all together and care as good as I can.Mother cat likes me as well and so there is currently no problem

But yes... There will probably be a problem....

For now though, I'm focusing on getting everyone healthy and happy

  • And, because it seems people are interested, here a picture of the family from today

Kittens are getting bigger by the day

First they were just fuzzy worms and rolled aroundBy now they start to resemble real cats ;-)

Mother is always happy, when we visit her, so don't worry, that we disturb herShe is really happy to get some love and attentionWe sit there and pet her, while she purrs and cuddles her kittens :-)

  • I'm a smoker and I still hate those idiotsI'm using biologically degradable paper filters, so even if they don't land in the right place (like, getting blown out of an ashtray), they still don't place plastic waste somewhere

I just don't get, how those idiots think, that it's ok just litter their poisonous plastic litter everywhere...

  • That's the plan anyway

But at the moment, that's obviously too soon

Mother cat brought an abscess from a bite with her and it broke up 1-2 days ago.We pressed it out and cleaned it up, and then flushed it out. And today the vet checked in on it.

The first thing now is to get everyone healthy.Mother is getting pills against worms once a week and for now some antibiotics against the abscess, that aren't hurtful to the kittens.

When everything is more settled, we gonna sterilise her - and castrate the kittens (since today we know, that they are probably both male)

    But that's next step thinking.

Edit: but maybe to add:She is surprisingly healthy for an unchipped stray. No fleas or ticks, got the ears cleaned out today and took care again about the abscess. She is probably just one year old. So the kittens already seemingly start to outgrow her ;-)

  • As she came to my neighbour for help and he had tears in his eyes, when he needed to leave them with us (although we're in the danger same building, just 2 doors away and can visit any time), those two are meant for each other

The kittens are currently a bit openWe have one person, who would take one - or both if needed

We aren't sure, if we can really give them all away without being heartbroken and think about keeping one.

But we had a really tragic year with the final death of our loved cat last year and...we're not really over it

We will see how it develops and I tend to give the cats the choice. As usually cats have chosen me and not the other way round. So we just give them time and until then care for them as best as we can

Edit: fuck me, my keyboard is stupid since the last update, or maybe it's just the lack of sleep...
