  • The 8bitdo controllers are nice. I would also check out the Flydigi Vader 4 Pro. I use the Vader 3 Pro and like it a lot. Very nice tech for a good price.

Overall I would stick to 3rd Party. The console manufacturers offer outdated tech for high prices. Most people still think of 3rd party controllers as the inferior cheap ones the little sibling had to use as kids.

  • While I agree that the changes for 1.0 don't look like enough to make it a full release, a lot of gamers categorically refuse to buy a game in early access and wait for the 1.0 release for the "full experience". Nobody can say how many sales would have been generated.

Valve offers somewhat high visibility for a very short time as compensation. That doesn't cost them anything and is very disappointing. Refund of some of the paid fees, or a discount for the players out of Valve's pocket doesn't sound unreasonable to me.

  • Because the title didn't tell me what the Fedora Forge is. I figured I might not be the only one and wanted to save someone a click.

  • FYI

We are thrilled to announce the soft launch of Fedora Forge, our new home for Fedora Project subprojects and Special Interest Groups (SIGs)!

  • ICE won't be banned. They simply are too dirty to reach the required limits. The same people claiming it's a ban, are telling anyone that regulation will kill innovation.

If they were able to innovate, they would create an ICE that would be viable. Since they can't, their opinion is irrelevant.

  • Beets can organize your music library. It uses musicbrainz IDs to identify songs and albums, it can move/copy the files into folders. You can also convert files right away. I created additional mp3 files and moved Thema into a separate folder for use on my phone to save space.

There are plugins to normalize the volume. Loads of dstuff. You just have to set up a config file to your needs and you are good to go.

  • Don't threaten me with a good time.

  • This statement in the same week as Yves installs his son as Co-CEO in charge of their biggest franchises. A man who entered the industry as a CEO of a mobile company and then founded a AI/NFT/crypto game company that is being liquidated now.

Pure nepotism. The Guillemont family is the parasite that is killing Ubisoft.

  • I have much more powerful hardware than you but Jellyfin shouldn’t take more than a few seconds to load directories.

That has been my experience as well with accessing it via the web interface. I read up on the kodi addons a bit more. As I understand it the jellyfin addon integrates the jellyfin library and has to sync it. I think this causes the delay for me. I think I will give Jellycon another try, since it accesses the libraries themselves. I will take a look at my media management and refine the folder structure to make it work.

TBH I find Jellyfin works best with media that can be scraped or that I’m willing to create nfo files for.

Metadata is actually an aspect I have little trouble with. There are solutions for TV and movies and pinchflat actually provides metadata for the youtube videos in a format jellyfin can use.

Pinchflat - How do I get media into Plex/Jellyfin/Kodi?

  • Thanks for the links. Since my youtube use would mostly consists of single videos, this might work for me.

  • Thanks for the info.

I used the piped addon for youtube.

I have been using piped and invidious in the past as well, but with youtube cracking down more and more I have trouble finding usable instances at all. Hence my switch to freetube, which mostly works so far.

  • I'm not that invested in the switch 2 discourse, but always chuckle when someone says "now I can play Zelda at 30 fps or more".

Paying for a new console, because the last one was incapable of playing games at an acceptable framerate is a weird argument for your purchase.

Some Nintendo games are undoubtedly masterpieces, but that doesn't excuse some of their business decisions.

  • I'm currently trying out Pinchflat on my NAS .

Freetube sadly blocks me a lot and having the videos stored locally removes a lot of hassle.

  • Check out refurbished Thinkpads T480 (14in) in your area. I basically got one that basically ticks all your boxes. Additionally mine has 32GB RAM, 500GB NVME SSD and a free slot for another small formfactor NVME card. It has one internal and one removable battery, so you could get an additional one to switch on the fly.

The T480 was the last Thinkpad model with "real" upgradability and was a popular business choice. Companies unload them in bulk. When I was looking for them the availability was good.

  • Damn, for me Jeff, Dan and Mitch/Mike formed the new nucleus and were quite entertaining.

Usually I am open to change, when it comes from a creative directive. However Giant Bomb seems increasingly to be jerked around by corporate interests in faster intervals. I have doubt's that GB will keep its identity and not just be a name.
