When you’re trying to find a community, in the search type in the whole URL. So for your example you should be able to make the instance find the community by typing in https://hobbit.world/c/hobbit_art in search all.
I have a lemm.ee account and a lemmy.world account. They are exactly the same as far as subscriptions go, my feed remains essentially the same, they’re just for when one has server issues, goes down for maintenance, or is laggy I have another with the same feed to keep my experience pretty much the same.
Considering Meta mines as much data from as many people as possible just to advertise to them and also they can’t even launch Threads in the EU right now because of how aggressively it tracks literally everything about their users and Threads’ only purpose is to gather more data to sell to more people, I think that alone is worth not letting them play.
I gotta say, sometimes I miss my fully customized LED on my blackberry back in the day. It could be in the bottom of a gym bag and I’d still know if I missed a Google Talk message (green) or a Facebook alert (dark blue) or an email (light blue), etc etc etc.
Once you enable hide read posts, I think right now you have to refresh your feed to make them disappear, at least from what I’m seeing the button bottom right isn’t doing much (or I’m an idiot and doing something wrong) but refreshing the feed makes them all disappear.
I’m convinced it’s an instance issue. My Traverse tab works perfectly fine for my .world account but my lemm.ee account has basically nothing in it - and I methodically made the two match so I have my same feed in case one or the other instance is acting up.
I was about to say it’s a weird light mode glitch because time is there in dark, but actually I can see the top bar in light too.
Which version are you on? App Store or TestFlight? I’m on the beta and it’s correct for me so maybe it was one of the bugs fixed between submission to the App Store and approval and the update is going to be pushed soon to fix.
They’ll probably get mad that people can take their ball and go home by going to another instance without ads and signing away access to all of their personal data but get the same content. If they defederate, to me that’s the trash taking itself out.
For #1 - that’s the instance lagging, this was happening to me on lemmy.world over the weekend constantly but when I switched to a not-bogged-down instance I haven’t had this issue. I think Gavin and the team are working on more clear error notifications to clarify what went wrong but that JSON error happens when the instance is straining.
Hitting search isn’t dismissing the keyboard?
