  • It's only when I'm deep in depression, the vast majority of the time I only drink 1-2 cups a day.

  • Thanks for explaining. I did a bad job explaining it, but I'm only taking a short break irl and am just jumping into this conversation. I've removed that section of my comment.

The book explains this in more detail and I recommend it. We don't get much deep discussion into what it means to be conservative/liberal and the purpose of the book isn't to go into that but it does provide a framework. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_Jacobs

  • How did you end up getting diagnosed?

  • Have you read it? Don't judge too quickly!

Actually on second thought nvm. If that's you're response then I'm out :)

  • 30% is insanely low. If I only paid 30% for housing I could retire in my 40s.

  • Never had yerba matte but I have an Italian friend and he drinks it non stop.

  • It doesn't seem to affect me in the way it normally does. I can drink coffee at 6 and sleep at 1130.

  • Edit: read Jane Jacobs system of survival

  • Horse shit is alright

  • The economy is in a weird spot where data looks alright (employment and gdp) but the covid economy hit everyone including your friendly neighborhood corporation. Ads are a simple and reliable way to turn up profits in a soft economy and declining global situation and inflation. Since companies have effectively stolen wages for so many years they can't cope with modest wage spike on their bottom line or really any disruption anywhere in their business they use ads to print money. Maybe as time goes on business will benefit from slowing wage growth and increasing automation we will see ad growth scale back. Regulation would be nice but what are you going to do?

  • Just in the youtube app, like regular youtube experience w/o an adblocker was brutal.

  • I had a Go a long time ago and I loved it for watching movies but the small sweet spot was an issue. I feel a strong pull towards pancake lenses but I think the cost is still out of reach... a new q3 is approaching 1k after straps and games.

  • I like that! When I had a Go I found finding experiences difficult, side loading was time consuming and hit or miss quality and streaming (youtube) was riddled with ads. I could see making this work better for me by upgrading my network firewall with a pi-hole and installing jellyfin somewhere and building a VR library.

  • I had an Oculus Go for a while and despite the average, kind of uncomfortable, kind of blurry experience I was still always struck when I took the headset off how stark reality felt in comparison. I was happy in VR, it something to look forward to. The alternatives are less good..

  • Zombeavers

I haven't but this is the second time it's popped up today so I'll put it on now.

  • Return of the Living Dead (1985)

I watched this recently. Actual not-dumb characters is sooo nice. I'd written this off as just yet another Romero style zombie movie but it has it's own thing going on. I think given how much I liked Tusk (saw it last night) and Dale and Tucker vs. Evil I have a soft spot for R rated horror comedy.

  • Pontypool pairs well with 30 days of night (and Tusk pairs well with The Substance).
