    Aggressive much?

  • Better delete the rest of those apps? And never use Google again? And throw away your phone? Or seriously, just go with open source and stop complaining about the reality of monetizing an app with Google. I'm sure you can afford all your bills by giving away your work for free. I hope you donate to those open source clients at least.

  • Better than a shit in your mouth? I don't have to be excited to vote for a lemon but I sure as fuck will to avoid a mouth full of shit. Oh and the reality of what a republican pres will do to the environment.

  • Exactly. Also helps me to think gen Z is coming up and replacing all those dead Republicans.

  • The swipe actions on posts and comments no longer vibrate at all for me on pixel 6a. They did with reddit sync. I'm missing that a lot for some reason, good feedback to know which swipe action I'm on, and satisfying for an upvote. I didn't know there was a difference in vibration motor vs "haptic engine", but I'm all for more haptic feedback with the swipe actions.

  • Having paid $6 for reddit sync probably over a decade ago while the dev has maintained and improved the app over those years with no additional money from me, I think I got a pretty good deal. It's definitely a calculation to make but I don't think $20 would have been unreasonable a decade ago and I don't really think it is now. Maybe also dont forget to put some blame on reddit, the dev got fucked there and has to rebuild the customer base that would have included recurring payment customers (unlike me).

  • Last thread was complaints of not wanting subscriptions this thread is complaints of too expensive 🤷. By all means keep the ads or use another app. Imo it's not super surprising to be pricey when it's a one time purchase instead of the subscription.

  • Nearly 14 years, right after digg imploded.

  • Bluetooth sleep mask. I've had a few and this one has been the best so far.

  • One thing I think about though is all the extra maintenance that goes into having a gas engine. It would be nice to commit and have the easier future maintenance.

  • Agreed. Only took the EU a couple decades to tell cellphone manufacturers (Apple) to use a standard plug.

  • Mother Mother. Pretty small then. It was amusingly weird. We ended up going back to the venue and everyone went home and front-man got on the road.

  • Hung around at the bar after small concert, my wife and I started talking about the show with a woman next to us. Then the front-man of the band walks up and we all talk but he and the woman are flirting heavily. Turns into us walking out to go grab a drink at another bar, not that it was sketchy or anything but she indicates she won't go without her new friends (us). Except we couldn't really find a bar, it was some generic family restaurant that served beer so we're sitting across from each other with our beers and the singer and the lady are whispering and making out with each other. It was not make-out vibes in this family restaurant, and they weren't even that drunk, but whatever. Pretty weird night.

  • Compromise often results in a half-measure. I mean do you want to live in a democracy where unfortunately you have a lot of people who "want" (lots of misinformed/idiots imo) to ignore climate change or private insurance, etc, or do you want a dictator to take over and "fix" it all? Why are we pointing the finger at the Democrats not fully fixing any of those issues when the GOP is the exactly the reason for the half-measures.

That said, I think without the pressure from progressives on Biden and central Dems, you don't even get an attempt at student loan forgiveness. Or whatever he's going to do to try and workaround the BS scotus ruling. So I'm not against holding the democratic party accountable, just that no one ever holds the fucking GOP accountable and it gets a bit tiring to see people shit on Biden or dems in general for not being able to be as progressive as they want. There is another half of the US that unfortunately does not agree with you (or me).

  • I'll see major swings in the algorithm from time to time (a week of bass guitar video recommendations for some reason), but I can usually trace back a video or two that I watched that it just decided to try and cram the topic down my throat. I would just say make sure you keep avoiding the conservative vids to try and get the recommendations to stop. I wonder if maybe one of your kids is watching videos on your account and skewing it?

  • And also, are people who are determined not to watch advertising going to be the ones that cave and buy some crap if you can force them to watch it?

  • I've still been using Plex, bought a lifetime license a long time ago and it's mostly been set-and-forget for years (except when they broke plex on the shield for like 3 months, ugh). What are the top things that makes you want to use Jellyfin over Plex?

  • Same. I'm desperately hoping the Sync for reddit developer goes through with an app for federated, I think he mentioned lemmy.

  • AND most of the posts (at least on the big subs) are not even the posters' content. It's like a highly effective ebaums world where they just make money off other people's work.
