  • Neat!

  • There are no plans to add compnents that are not actively developed.

  • I mean we got an new API now and RetroENGINE for CLI launching.

But yes we are discussing it with them and have been for a long time.

  • All I can do is speak for ourselves.

RetroDECK has explicit rules against contacting upstream projects for support issues, and those rules have always been in place.

Our support is internal, and if we discover something that appears to be an upstream bug, we report it directly to the upstream team not through a user proxy.

We have been very vocal about this policy within our community.

It’s also important to remind users that RetroDECK doesn’t make the games run; the built‑in emulators, engines, and systems do. Therefore, we encourage our users to donate to those upstream projects rather than to us.

  • It’s ultimately your decision, but I’d recommend waiting for the next update...

Since the current stable release is already seven months old (thanks to the rewrite).

One advantage of RetroDECK is its isolation: everything lives in a single location, making installation and removal quite easy.

EmuDeck provides features that we don’t, and vice versa. The two projects have other goals and visions from each other.

  • So cool!

  • Deleted

    Linux development

    Jump
  • RetroDECK

We are using: python, bash and Godot.

    It's a All-In-One Retro Gaming platform in a flatpak.

  • Now that is cool!

  • Nice, props to the Heroic Team!

  • For the record RetroDECK also got Matrix instance as well. But Revolt have so far been more active then Matrix (even tho we had that one for a long time).

But I do agree with that Discord is not a replacement for forums. You should not use Discord as your primary information hub.

For us our own wiki is the master of information. If something relevant is said in Revolt / Discord / Matrix we will add it to the wiki, people should not need to register various accounts to access the information.

Github is also where we handle "real" issues, while Discord / Matrix / Revolt is helpful for community members helping other with minor issues or general banter.

One reason why forums died out was the need for direct engagement and a sense of active community belonging, that they simply did not offer.

We also did not create all of these spaces from the beginning. Some community members did it, like the subreddit. Then you have a choice either you create it and own it, or a fan will.

  • Bazzite, Aurora, Proxmox and Ubuntu Server.

  • The marketing was really weird. I tought it also was a Zelda / God of War heavy metal game. They showed tons of trailers with the first boss but little after that. But the entire game was an RTS game and I did complete but... But was a little disappointed.

  • We hope to one day in the far far future implement ares as well. As we know some people don't like RetroArch.

But we rather focus on new systems first before adding alternatives.

All we need is more developers xD

  • RetroDECK does not delete any save states, they should all be there under retrodeck/states/

There where some bugs in RetroArch we have addressed in 0.9.1b that might have caused the menu option to disappear in RetroArch.

How ever save states are not a safe long term saving method as cores or emulators updates they might break compability with old states.

Always use in-game saves as your default saving method and states as temporary backups.

  • RetroDECK (a emulation suite known for its use on the Steam Deck system) has had a recent update and sub-sequent blog post

    Now that's a post!

We hope to have 0.9.1b out during next week 😅

  • I have been to European theaters that are dine-in and smaller. You got maybe 30 comfortable seats and with tray tables. You order your food / beverages 60 minutes before the movie.

During those 60 minutes you can wait in the lounge and have a drink with an appertife.

When the commercials start the food is served, then the movie starts and everyone is enjoying their meal and movie.

When the half way point hit they pause the movie as days of yore and you get a 20 minute break for going to the toilet and order more things.

They also serve tea and coffee during that time for free.

The kicker is that the tickets are little bit cheaper then the traditional big theater and the experience is 10 times better and more intimite since it only takes 30 people in one saloon.
