  • Where are you from, OP? Not only do we not eat dessert right before bedtime (where did you get that silly idea?), but where we live, dessert is commonly either milk-based, fruit based or both.

  • It would have to be very, very bad and it would weigh heavily on my soul if I ever were to speak those words to my children.

  • Important? No. I write open source software for a living, but have been partly railroaded into a corporate project that sucks the joy out of work.

    Proud? Fuck no!

  • Decaffeinated coffiee. Nobody specified who would get angry and when. :)

  • by and far either the most or least ethical people

Anedcote: I once had a lead developer who was a successful lawyer earlier in his career. He quit his law office because he could not stomach defending people who were not only obviously guilty, bet were scumbags as well.

  • Adding to this already great post: the control panel depends on the DE used, rather than the distribution. As modern distros have modern DEs, you are not wrong though.

  • VW (and other EU car manufacturers) could and should have seen the EV market coming and instead they invested in covering up diesel emissions and lobbying the EU to postpone environmental policies. Dieselgate was a thing back in the day and VW was at the forefront.

I should have amended my first post by 'lobbying' instead of 'demanding subsides' though.

  • IMHO, VW has no right to exist anymore and the CEOs should be held personally accountable for the loss of 50000 jobs. They failed to innovate while demanding huge subsidies from the EU. They cheated in order to make their diesels look more economical. They are expensive and poor quality for the price you pay in the EU.

    Fuck them.

  • A few weeks ago, I was down with the flu. In order to kill time, I made a puzzle. Normally, I would play a video game or something, but even that felt too heavy. It felt good not to have to do anything and just make a puzzle.

  • Vampire Survivors. The premise and gameplay are simple, but it is highly um.. replayable.

  • Normal day-to-day updates are applied daily. Even back when I used to use Arch. In my experience, there were very few breaking changes and if you checked the blog, you could take measures to prevent such measures.

With fulll distribution upgrades, I normally wait a week or so. Just in case.

  • I have seen too much cultural resentment toward the Dutch for this to be a viable scenario, both from the Flemish and the Wallonian side.

Also, both the Dutch and the Belgians are deeply racist. You can't unite racists. (Source: am Dutch)

  • Oh dear. How sad. Never mind.

  • Ignorance, propaganda and probably racism.

I can imagine that many African and East-Asian countries have their own strong opinions on the French and with better reason than the USA.

  • That is the quote of a man who is thriving under deregulation. In the current political climate, huge corporations can do whatever the hell they want and blame their consumers. The EU still has some guardrails, so I am glad to live in Europe. However, as the car industry lobby already proved, those can be eroded as well.

  • That's like your opinion man!

    (mine too)

  • The Big Lebowski

  • That's a good personal rule, sir.
