  • Explanation: The guy on the right is Linus Sebastian, a tech youtuber running a fairly large media company. I'd characterize their output as being a mixture of news, reviews and Top Gear style fucking around with tech.

A couple weeks ago he sent Linus Torvalds an e-mail, asking him if he'd like to do some sort of collaboration - mainly because of the name and because he's a personal hero of his. Torvalds quickly responded, telling him that it would have to be a "there can only be one" type situation, like in Highlander or Mad Max.

So they shot something where they most are just chatting while building a computer together but did the bit for the intro. The video is not released yet.

  • It's freeware not open source but I like Monofur. Might not be the most beautiful font but I find it very legible and the distinction between similar characters is quite good. It's available in the Debian/Ubuntu repositories too.

  • clippy’s nagging was just as intrusive as the current AI being forced into everything

I thought the opposite was (part of) the point. Just right-click the assistant and tell it to go away, that's it. If all the AI garbage that's being integrated into Windows and many applications was that easy to get rid of I'd be considerably less annoyed by it. It was clumsy and misguided but not nearly as intrusive, also didn't require an account and an Internet connection.

  • But in the real world you probably don't need more precision than 333.3 anyway.

  • If you really need that level of precision for some reason you can just write 1/3m as a fraction.

  • I expect it goes like this: Electricity is real and does things, yet it's so mysterious and unseen! Just like god!

  • Bought it at launch and just couldn't cope with the mechanics. Not a fun experience. But then I played it after 2.0 came out and now I have a favorite game. Never really had one before.

  • That's too simple, you could subtract everything adult from the furry fandom and quite a lot would remain. If you did the same to an actual fetish-based community you'd have little left, if anything.

Furries like anthropomorphic animals in multiple ways. People tend to focus on (and scandalize) the sexual part when sometimes it's just cute, funny or invokes all sorts of other feelings. It's a full-spectrum interest.

  • What if they believe that being associated with adult games will hurt the bottom line?

  • That would mean that they actually are responsible. I don't think that's correct, at best they complained to payment processors to make them enforce their pre-existing bullshit rules. That's where the problem lies IMO, those corporations should not be allowed to ban paying for legal goods and services, especially since they have formed a cartel.

  • Exactly, it's perfectly kromulent.

  • Treating an LLM like a novelty oracle seems okay-ish to me, it's a bit like predicting who will win the game by seeing which bowl a duck will eat from. Except minus the cute duck, of course. At least nobody will take it too serious, and those that do will probably see why they shouldn't.

    Still annoying though.

  • So PHP may be trash, but don't treat the people using it like trash? Makes sense to me.

  • Is disliking something that (allegedly) is more popular with women than the average thing of its category anti-woman, even if no part of the complaint involves the user or their gender? The majority of users is likely still male anyway.

  • 90000% agreeing with you, video games are for little children and should never contain any adult material!

  • It's a thing kids say to taunt each other, "girls go to college to get more knowledge, boys go to Jupiter, to get more stupider".
