  • I don't think blaming voters is a good idea. There were signals that people would be more likely to vote for Harris if she, for example, agreed to stop sending arms to Israel (more than the voters she'd lose by doing that). The campaign ignored that.. if they tell you what they want and you ignore it that's kinda on you. Trying to rehab the Republican party ("Country over Party") instead of going out there and hammering home her policy, how she would make things better for voters... there were lots of mistakes made.

  • And if you look back before fission, modern physics has a pretty well documented history. You can generally start at Maxwell, move forward to the guys who were trying to rectify the predicted speed of light vs observed speed of light, quantum physics, etc. I spent half a year getting real deep into it but you could probably teach the gist of pre-1945 nuclear physics in an afternoon

  • Don’t want to pile on but the lack of a web client in favor of a Windows Store client really kills this for me. I mean, I’m not even on windows so it’s a deal breaker anyway. Would love to get this talking to Lutris somehow.

    Also going to pile on a bit about your use of Discord, it is walling off information in a proprietary communication channel. Support tickets should be handled on the web so others can easily tack on if they are experiencing the same issues etc.

  • I know very little about the operating structure of Google, but I wonder how this would work functionally. Doesn't most of their revenue come from ads? So like you couldn't have google search's ad business help to prop up the lines of business that don't make money (Youtube, chrome development)

    I'm not anti-breakup but I just wonder if this would imperil some of their lines of business. Like would Youtube shove even more ads down your throat post-breakup?

    I think it might matter if Cory came out and said, I am starting an org with the resources to fix it. But I don’t see how this tidbit is relevant for a guy who coined the term about what’s happening here and has been beating the drum about the problem.

  • Sure, but there are other ActivityPub protocol softwares that have quote replies and moderation, that aren’t Mastodon. I think the challenge is getting the average user to seek out an instance running one of those softwares and not just mastodon dot social.
