  • Oh yes I see now:

    https://github.com/aeharding/voyager/issues/546

If you have the time, it appears a user in that issue is hoping for your permission to update a patch fixing this very issue!

I can understand why it is low priority, but consider that it is outside of basic feature parity with Lemmy. In all other apps (that I have tried) as well as web based frontends (again, that I have tried) the display name is used everywhere.

I for one selected my username in light of the fact that I would be able to edit the display name on Lemmy, and I find that including my pronouns (I recognize this is a niche use of the display name feature) is an easy and generally consistent way to limit confusion and frame conversations involving me.

  • That state of that bug is disappointing, I see now why it isn't implemented in this app. No worries, hopefully the Ionic team will prioritize it by the time Google replaces it with a brand new version lol

    Thanks for replying!

  • I imagine it would be just another theme option, not replacing anything else

  • You say that, but I think it's rather thick

  • Why? If it's American Propaganda, know that that is mainly financed by US social media because TikTok is doing so well. It isn't a Chinese propaganda machine despite what uninformed fools will tell you.

  • Not only that, the drawing of her in the first and last panels are the same with a few changes, and the guy is the same in all three panels he is in, just with an extra arm drawn in the final one.

  • Am I the only one that uses TikTok? It's that and Lemmy for me, nothing else. Oh, and infrequently reddit for the subreddit created for the city I live in

  • Agreed, and we did prior to Roe v Wade being repealed

  • The Montana State constitution has a guaranteed right to privacy, which is what Row v Wade used to guarantee abortion access. It would take a Montana constitutional amendment to change it in Montana. Scotus has no authority over the matter.

  • The people who hated on Bill Nye were conservatives, and they did so because he explained concepts like Gender which they did not appreciate (i.e. does not fit into their reductionist misogynistic harmful ideology). Bill Nye is great.

  • Montana has Zooey Zephyr, the woman who was famously censured by the state legislature and received national coverage.

  • Usually when you hear about a settlement (and not a plea deal) that means this was a civil case and not a criminal one. A civil case doesn't weigh in on whether or not criminal charges will be brought.

If enough people push the Attorney General of that state to pursue charges they still could (Edit: it's been 14 years and the Statute of Limitations is 5 years for wiretapping which I think is the highest possible charge). But there is a higher standard for evidence in criminal trials. Not to mention the defense's argument would likely be that schools have the right to wiretap students' issued laptops, so the AG probably doesn't want this to go to court and end up enshrining such a right when it currently holds civil liability due to the civil case succeeding.

  • Thank you for your service, Twitterenoclast 🫡

  • Sorry your brain isn't processing the image right

  • This is his one strength. He can dog whistle as much as he wants because he always carefully chooses his words to add some sort of plausible deniability or innocent interpretation. So his base hears what he can't fully say out loud yet and the media has to carefully tiptoe around interpreting it or lose credibility to his base

  • Socialism is inherently democratic

  • No, thank you

  • You can perceive it however you want but the manufacturer was found and it was blue and black. Kinda figured that would be common knowledge by now.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_dress

The dress was black and blue, but the conditions of the photograph caused many to perceive it as white and gold, creating debate. Within a week, more than ten million tweets had mentioned the dress. The retailer of the dress, Roman Originals, reported a surge in sales and produced a one-off version in white and gold sold for charity.
