  • Still feels crazy though how aware you're forced to be about ads lurking in every corner. I check many of these boxes plus some others, use independent OSs, 3rd party apps etc. And still, although I hardly see any ads, they are so present just lurking under the surface.

Good example are sponsor comments in yt videos/podcasts. Some I can filter out with Sponsorblock, but the little video glitch reminds you every time that you have to stay safe. Podcast ads can easily be slipped with the fast forward button, but if you're washing the dishes etc., sometimes you can't react directly.

It's really insane how ads are just everywhere these days.

  • How to protect your computer from automated AI attacks 101: start vim

  • That was some discourse in the podcasts, in Germany at the time which has a pretty big community

  • Isn't this comment an ad for the pirate bay?

  • Did they stop just grabbing podcasts from the free web and playing them in Spotify? I remember from a few years ago that some podcasts were complaining and willing to sue Spotify for stealing their content.

  • Let me fix that: "Tuxedo computer will be less broken when you buy it and try to use it without adding their crappy node.js driver package"

    There you go.

    Love,

    A (somewhat disgruntled) tuxedo customer

  • When was the last time you had an in person gaming session like that with a friend?

  • Some advice I heard was to keep important docs in the lower half of the room to reduce fire damage risk, because heat goes up if you go higher. Other than that, most storage containers don't seem to help a lot against fire, unfortunately.

If you store the documents lower, water is a higher risk though.

  • I think this is both easy on the sense that there are a lot of feasible options, and difficult in the sense of selecting the most suitable one for you. English alone opens up many places to you. But besides language, culture is a major factor. I remember a story about immigrants in Finland feeling excluded and had difficulties building social relationships. But in Finland, even the locals don't have so many local friends. So, the way of life is just not suitable to many.

Other than that, try to see this not only as a negative thing, but also as an opportunity. Don't just ask where you would do okay, but include questions like where you would feel comfortable.

Final thought: often the "most popular option" is not necessarily the best. In Europe, many countries that are not Germany or France are nice, sometimes the QoL is even higher. So, consider Austria besides Germany, for example.

  • I don't know where you're coming from on this planet, but in my environment oats, fruit, and nuts were very much breakfast cereals since my childhood. So one can disagree, but two agrees.

You fill this with some type of milk (plant or dairy), but water also does the job or yogurt.

My point is just that it's a stupid claim to say pizza is better if you stay unspecific about what you're eating, really.

  • pizza is not a health food, but when compared with a quickly poured bowl of sugar flakes, it’s a more balanced meal.

Just use oat flakes, some fruit, some nuts, there is your more healthy alternative.

OTOH, if you compare sugar flakes with a vegetable pizza, with whole grain base, lots of veggies, and not so much cheese, pizza wins

  • Yes, but everybody joined GitHub when it still seemed like a decent platform and before the Microsoft takeover. Not sure everybody would let themselves be fooled again, especially now that we have decent alternatives.

    Also, git is floss.

  • Is it FLOSS? No

    Is it VC funded? Yes

    Enjoy your shit without me

  • Add to this that companies would prefer showing their ads to paying customers (who have some money to spend), not the free tier plebs

  • I would question that as a general statement

  • Eight if you count the Russian flag

  • Damn, got me. Game is over

  • I mean... It just says things others said before after blending them a lil bit, right? That's its entire thing?

  • Is there a strength competition somewhere, where people challenge themselves to escape from Jesus' death cell and move the boulder?
