  • Zima was popular when I was a teenager. I remember a lot of my friends drinking them as an introduction to alcohol because they tasted better than beer.

A few years ago, they did a special manufacturing of Zima (since they no longer make it) and my friend bought a case. I can affirm that Zima tastes like absolute ass. Smirnoff Ice and everything after have been a huge improvement compared to that shit we had in the 90s.

  • That just reminded me, back before Reddit went batshit, I used to love reading a subreddit filled with stories about this. I can't remember the name though. It wasn't r/justbootthings but something similar dedicated just to girlfriends/wives.

  • I would love to see an LLM doctor trained only on the TV show House.

  • "Steal to keep": It's the new "rent to own".

  • Yeah, this is clearly a big deal. They started having an election and then cancelled the election after it had already started so they could redraw the districts and get a better outcome.

Could you imagine if they started voting for the presidential election and then they were like "hang on, we didn't like where that was going. Pause for a few months so we can redraw the districts"? People would (rightfully) be losing their shit.

  • I love that she was genuinely baffled. Hope it makes her reexamine her thoughts on AI.

  • I'd say it's responsible for at least 75% of us being here!

  • Good point about people resigning early. That would probably be a problem no matter what. If someone was at 16 years, they would probably be incentivized to retire early if they thought the next president wouldn't be from their party.

Right now, judges almost never resign, so they just happen to die whenever most of the time, which allows conservatives to replace liberal judges and vice versa (in theory). Resigning early would likely be a huge problem.

Might have to do something like say each president gets to nominate a maximum of 2 justices. Those two justices being the people with the longest tenure on the court. If someone dies, that counts as nomination. If the president has already used their 2 nominations, then the next president will appoint a replacement.

  • Seems pretty straightforward. But do we really want to give Trump a chance to get 3 more justices that will rule the courts for the next 18 years?

  • My wife and I joke that once you hit 40, a random 40s ailment just just assigned to you. Well, just one if you're lucky. I got assigned some nerve pain myself.

  • Yeah 30s were like "oh I've got people that depend on me now so I can't just fuck off and do whatever I want all day."

40s are like "Oh shit, why does this hurt? It's permanent?!"

  • Kennedy’s action comes at a time when many adherents of his Make America Healthy Again movement have adopted regular sun exposure as a core principle of wellness, with social media influencers encouraging followers to abandon sunscreen and build up their “solar callus,” or sun tolerance, instead.

This kind of bullshit makes me so angry.

  • I never drew the conclusion that was child safe packaging until now. I just assumed battery packaging was made by dickheads.

  • Kind of reminds me of a sign that they have at Jimmy Johns.

The investment banker was at the pier of a small coastal village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked…

Inside the small boat were several large fin tuna.

The banker complimented the fisherman on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch them. The fisherman replied…

    “Only a little while.”

The banker then asked why he didn’t stay out longer and catch more fish? The fisherman said he had enough to support his family’s immediate needs.

    The banker then asked…

“But what do you do with the rest of your time?”

    The fisherman said…

“I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take a nap with my wife, Maria, stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine and play guitar with my friends, I have a full and busy life.”

    The banker scoffed…

“I am a Harvard MBA and could help you. You should spend more time fishing and with the proceeds, buy a bigger boat, and with the proceeds from the bigger boat you could buy several boats. Eventually, you would have a fleet of fishing boats. Instead of selling your catch to a middleman you would sell directly to the processor, eventually opening your own cannery. You would control the product, processing and distribution. You would need to leave this small coastal fishing village and move to a big City, then LA and eventually NYC where you will run your expanding enterprise.”

    The fisherman asked…

“But, how long will this take?”

    To which the banker replied…

    “15-20 years.”

The fisherman thought for a moment and then asked…

    “But what then?”

The banker laughed and said that’s the best part…

“When the time is right you would announce an IPO and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich, you would make millions.”

And, once again the fisherman asked…

    “Then what?”

    The banker said…

“Then you would retire. Move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take naps with your wife, stroll to the village in the evening, sip wine and play your guitar with your friends!”
