  • Also these depths are usually only explored with unmanned drones, not makeshift tuna cans with store parts

  • I've heard somewhere it's easier and safer to explore deep space than to explore the deep ocean.

  • Sadly I don't think so. This incident was absolutely preventable. Someone warned them about this and they got fired. A makeshift vessel that wasn't inspected/certified, immersed to almost 3 times the rated depth, controlled by a wireless Logitech gamepad from 2010 with no redundancy and only 96 hours of oxygen. I really really hope for a last minute miracle though...

  • It's inherently superior to Reddit: it's decentralized (federated), user friendly, light on resources, free and open source and has no shady obscure algorithms and bots tainting discourse.

  • Sadly I've observed throughout the late 2010s how Reddit society gradually became about parroting the right opinion and walking on eggshells all the time.

  • One more grifter preying on young men has fallen. This is a nice day.

  • The advertisement model needs to die. No one wants to have their experience corrupted by panels trying to sell you something. We can find other ways to fund the network

  • I really hope they are kept in check. No karma, no corporations, no problem. I hope Meta's EEE attempt crashes and burns. They are not welcome to the Fediverse.

  • try wooden mulch, it does wonders in drier climates.

  • Thanks. I'll try to kickstart mine once I have some free time.

  • There is ALWAYS the possibility to enshittify anything. Meta is trying to infiltrate Mastodon already.

  • Small phones are in a crisis right now. I'm still holding on to my Galaxy S7. If you want something newer there's the Pixel 4a or the Asus Zenfone 9 if you have money to spend. Zenfone 10 is coming soon and so far it's THE only small phone planned for release this year

  • The path to the Megathread will always be available wherever it goes, but people need to act. Reddit is no longer safe to be a pirate in entrapment or otherwise (might be negligence). If you keep complaining and perpetuating the status quo then you can be dead sure the information will never move off Reddit, where you can give these snarky neckbeard responses instead of quality answers.

  • Mobile first is a good, valid approach for responsive UI. But these amateur webdevs do mobile ONLY neglecting other UI densities and form factors so all corporate websites look like half-assed phone apps. Not to mention the usage of bloated frameworks to save time.

  • Lemmy has the megathread and the rest can stay there at their own risk.

  • Use Reddit's power delete suite. Be careful though, Reddit's admins are really really mad at ur right now and they will roll back partially or totally your messages, so keep an eye on it and run the power delete suite multiple times, before June 30th

  • Can't believe it. They're becoming real motherfuckers right now. They seem hell bent on getting that IPO.

  • It feels so nice to know most Lemmy instances will never shove that bullshit paragraph in Legalese in our faces.
