  • Buying a new replacement totally is upgrading though.

    That's why it's so rare to find phones with easily changeable batteries as most phones are like new if you just replace that.

  • One of the biggest fake-meat producers in Germany was a very big, purely meat-production company 20 years ago

    Now they make more money with replacements than with their meat-production just because people kept buying it.

    If enough people vote with their money it totally has an effect

  • Also meine Siemens-Maschine ist schon ca. 15-20 Jahre alt (hab' die vor 5 jahren gebraucht gekauft) und hat keinerlei digitalen Anzeigen und Knöpfe (aber kein "Aufziehuhrwerk") - und exakt 4 LEDs die leuchten können - eine für laufenden Spülvorgang, eine für abgeschlossenen Spülvorgang und jeweils eine für Salz und Klarspüler

  • Especially with those with 1000s of subscribers - how are people fooling themselves into thinking that they don't have someone answering their messages for them?

    Some of the most popular ones have whole crews for filming - why should social media be something they do on their own?

    I kind of get it for the ones with few subscribers though

  • Also: politicians will only implement hard measures if a big part of the population is already undoubtedly behind them.

    They won't severely limit meat unless a big part is already vegetarian - they won't ban short range flights unless most people are choosing trains and busses over them already.

    They won't take away space from cars to bikes unless people are already taking their bike and showing the problem to everyone

    Sure the whole thing about personal responsibility and the co2 footprint is intended to discourage change - but unless we start a grassroots movement including personal responsibility change won't happen, too

    (Seit Fahrplanwechsel in Dezember gibt's immerhin einen ICE morgens nach Hamburg und abends zurück aber trotzdem etwas stumpf dass Nord Süd alles über Halle geht und Ost West über Stendal und man nichtmal eine direkte Fernverkehrs-Verbindung nach Erfurt hat

  • At least here in Germany everyone is selling drinks (beer as well as Softdrinks) from the tap in cups with usually 1 or 2 euros as a deposit so people don't throw them to the ground and create a hazard

    Often the cups are also branded from the band so I collected a couple over the years

    Gog is objectively giving you more value for your money but even cdpr had to release the Gwent standalone on steam eventually because people didn't buy it enough - once it was on steam it sold more than in a year on gog in weeks

    People don't look at the alternatives at all - unless it's a AAA game with an exclusive deal

  • Steam is just perfect at keeping the gamers behind them as they are only assholes behind doors to the Devs on their platform.

    30% is an absurd cut for a store that has such a monopoly that if you don't release there your game is pretty much cancelled even if you release at your own store without DRM and with additional goodies (Looking at GOG and The Witcher - they released the Gwent standalone like a year later on steam because it didn't sell at all on GOG and then it apparently outsold the GOG version without a week)

    People are just too lazy and Steam is keeping them happy enough to not bother looking another way.

    Epic isn't a good guy in any case but the exclusive deals on AAA Games they do is probably the only way to get someone to buy the game there instead of Steam

    Currently trying out Floorp as a Firefox fork for the possibility that Google's disabling of adblockers in the manifest will make it impossible to use chromium browsers which is kind of good, too

    But Vivaldi rules as long as chromium is an option!

  • Habe auch meine Probleme mit der Partei (gerade bei Homöopathie und Gentechnik) aber bin im Januar trotzdem eingetreten weil die doch von allen Parteien noch mit Abstand die sinnvollste progressive Politik machen wollen

    Und gerade diese Hetze hat für mich dann zu einem "jetzt erst Recht"-moment geführt
