  • Ahh "this doesn't affect me", the pinnacle of enlightened politics

  • The universe is big enough to be able to handle that. Earth's orbit less so.

  • Focusing on unified branding basically misses the entire point of the fediverse.

  • Always eat the billionaires first.

  • Okay, now onto the source I asked you for, please.

  • if you really care about refugees, many studies have affirmed the best way is neighboring countries.

    Source?

Also if previous intake of refugees hasn't been friction-free because the EU failed at integration, maybe the conclusion should be for the EU to do better at integration instead?

  • As always there will be a lot of wailing about how the CDU/FDP could violate their supposed principles of not working together with the AfD and very little discussion about how it can be that the CDU/FDP are the ones that repeatedly find themselves in situation of substantial political alignment with the AfD in the first place. Such a weird coincidence.

If we rightfully accept the AfD to be absolutely vile it's about time the mainstream political discourse stops letting its closest political neighbours get away with some performative declarations of distance and start a discussion about how the rot sits right there are the policy level.

  • The reason those predator species got killed to near extinction is probably a bit more broad and ugly than just concern for lifestock.

But you're correct of course that the main reason for the current overpopulation of many non-invasive species is a lack of predators and they should be reintroduced. But that's also not a thing that can happen from one day to the next, so even in the most optimistic scenarios some degree of human wildlife management still has a purpose.

  • Efficiency of calorie acquisition is not the same as sustainability though. Culling an overpopulation of deer that keeps a forest from developing or an invasive species that is wreaking havoc on an ecosystem can both be a net positive on the ecosystem and in terms of sequestering carbon. Meanwhile growing crops on former rainforest land is a clear net negative.

Those are edge cases though of course and with your average store selection, going with plant-based will just about always be more sustainable.

  • Huh, seems like you're right or at least I couldn't find anything like that. I feel like theoretically ot should be able to do that, so I'm gonna snoop around a bit more and maybe file an issue. Doesn't help that kbin's UI is still pretty atrocious at the moment, but the project is still fairly young and developing at a good pace at least.

  • You can follow people and do regular posts on kbin in case you didn't know yet.

  • Why do people consider bigger age gaps a problem? Because there's often a difference in maturity and experience that makes it harder to communicate, have the same goals and often puts the younger party at risk of being taken advantage of.

So if you think that the thing the age gap is a stand in for, a gap in maturity, doesn't apply, there's also no reason to get hung up on the number and mistake the map for the territory.

I think it's good that you're questioning yourself though and you should probably keep being a bit cautious about the situation and reevaluating yourself until you can be certain you two are on the same level.
