  • All that and it still won’t talk about the Tiananmen Square massacre

  • People are arguing that Jellyfin is inherently unsafe, or more so than another web application like plex and therefore if you provide friends access to it, they MUST use a VPN. That’s not true. You can host Jellyfin behind a reverse proxy and it’s accessible just like other web applications. Your friends don’t need to learn how to use a VPN. They can login just like they login to other websites.

  • Yeah, no shit. That’s not an issue with jellyfin, that’s general advice for any application you’re hosting. Use a reverse proxy instead. That is also in the documentation.

Using a knife might cut you when you hold it by the blade, does that mean no one should hold it by the handle?

  • Yeah, free, open source is fun, but we should also just support companies that have good ethics and want to make enough money to earn a living and keep making good products that respect people.

  • Coo

  • I guess it’s just a work of fiction then.

  • Either you read the whole thread and can’t reason well enough to realize this is an absurd conclusion or you didn’t read the thread at all.

Having been part of a protest against genocide does not give anyone license to misbehave or lay hands on police officers in an airport (which they did). They’re actually creating negative PR for the movement against genocide and giving Israel a PR win while making the Spanish government that stood up for them look foolish.

Anyone remember Tulsi Gabbard's "No War With Iran" campaign t-shirts?

  • Weird example…

I would think he is a character involved with detective work, which is a component of law enforcement and therefore it is not out of the ordinary for the character to possess a gun.

  • Yeah I think it’s possible to live in the US and not encounter guns. It’s mostly driven by people’s interest and the interests of those around them. There is no obligation to be near or interact with firearms in the US. There are certainly a lot of guns in the US and that does lead to more homicides and shootings, but I don’t think it means everyone sees guns regularly in their daily life. If someone displays a firearm in public, people will not be casual about it.

  • I’m sure there will be an analysis of whether the police handled it optimally, but I also know I’m able to walk through an airport without getting into a brawl with relative ease. Why are these people not?

  • Are batons swords?

  • If you resist enough, they’re gonna remove you by force, especially in an airport where there is elevated security interest.

I support the flotilla and protesting Gaza, but this was just not the time and not the place. What they did here actually hurts their political goal and just makes them look like they’re trying to become a nuisance and play victim everywhere they go. Israel is already seizing on it to hit back at the Spanish government which had been challenging Israel’s conduct with the flotilla.
