  • I think they specifically chose that to display that it has no "forward" axis, robots don't need to be 100% anthropomorphic and follow our biological limitations, this is a very significant evolution in design that will allow for better mobility

  • I short of have a theory with this. There's this belief that "netflix killed piracy" because they provided an actual service with a fair price and the commodity that people wanted to watch shows. And that later on, it got enshittified. But I kinda think that, collaterally, a very important factor that explains people not even knowing how to download a torrent or having 0 critical mind when it comes to the other companies abusing their power has been the surge of smartphones

They were designed to have idiot-proof protection, but more and more they distanced newer generations from having a minimal technical background on how to use computers, which then leads to a more ignorant society incapable of saying no to such companies

I'm not saying this has been the main factor but I have my suspicions to believe it might be related

  • The comic strip sounds like someone made a plugin to export obsidian vaults to .pptx

  • LETS FUCKING GOOO

As a sidenote, I bought a whole new SSD and I plan to switch from windows 10 to ubuntu (yeah I know) when I have more stability in my life. At the moment I don't want more changes in my life because I have a lot going, but it's coming

  • I know that headline must be incredibly infuriating for a public like lemmy, * but *, personally I have some conflicts about the whole retirement concept since it starts a chain of cognitive decline and isolation (this is a source but there are many more: https://bmcgeriatr.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12877-017-0556-7)

I'm not saying that people should be working forever, I just wonder if there could be some optional way for some elder people to contribute to society in a way that feels meaningful? Are there jobs where they could fit and have that feeling of fulfillment? Understand that I have met a fair amount of old people that felt useless and was just "waiting to die" in a depressive way. In some ways jobs can be a source of happiness if people isn't being exploited. What I'm thinking about would be optional and with less hours involved

On the other hand, maybe what I'm describing is not necessarily a "job position for old people" per se, maybe if we as a society invested more in quality of life for the elder I believe we could make them happier. I feel terrible that we're barely doing anything for the loneliness problem...

  • Pomodoro technique is working alright for me, what are you using?

  • What are they made of anyways?? Could one see any etching marks with a microscope?

  • Oh wow!

  • 💗

  • It's interesting that north dakota just has 2 being so far up north

  • Hahah, I noticed!

I've seen the negativity towards the anime stuff and I don't think it's THAT bad if the pic has characters with realistic clothes and a "street wear" vibe. As you mentioned, design starts with a drawing, but I can also see why some people would rather keep the sub-lemmy "real pics only", either way. Instead of complaining that much they could contribute 👀

  • It's actually not a bad feature request for the lemmy developers

  • Y this dog dressin better than meh 🥺

  • Amazing work!! Although it stresses me to think of the mud of a forest and how the skirt might get messy 🙃🙃🙃

  • That's amazing! I wonder what things are left to polish or update 🤔

  • Yeah, fair point!

  • I hate so much how pinterest occludes and pollutes google images 🙄
