  • It isn’t implemented.

Maybe someone else knows if it’s on the todo list?

  • I use it daily, with ultisnips, to write reports at work!

  • We’re in the early hype phase of a new innovation fad. It’ll die down and then we’ll find out what it’s ACTUALLY useful for.

  • Only 5-6 years until Linux is at 100% at this rate…

  • If you’re getting downvoted it’s probably because you sound a bit condescending.

Anyway, most of your issues are Ubuntu issues, not Linux issues. And as you may have learned, most Linux users don’t really go with Ubuntu anymore as a recommendation. Personally, I use Fedora with as many flatpaks as possible and have a great experience.

Clicking on a deb (or .rpm) to install something is a last resort imo. Install from the package manager first, flatpak or snap next.

Variable refresh rates aren’t something I care about so I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♂️ but sounds very firmware/hardware dependent. HDR is just not implemented fully yet, but being heavily worked on. Linux is in the middle of the final push to switch X to Wayland which will likely fix these kinds of issues once fully adopted.

I use Podman Desktop if I need a docker ui (flatpak) btw. Also available in other ways and OS.

  • Get with the times, women have been allowed to vote for awhile now!

  • I came to the exact same decision a few months ago.

DDG used to be worse; now it’s better.

  • Pretty good! The very recent update was massive.

  • The nice thing about Jellyfin is that you can point Jellyfin and Plex to the same media folders and both will work, to try it out.

I would get a Synology with intel Quicksync if you go the Synology route for hardware transcoding. Unfortunately, a lot of the new models don’t have it.

I just have a 220+ but would maybe get a 4 bay model if I did it again.

  • Jellyfin + Synology NAS was a great investment for me! ;)

    Wouldn’t go back.

  • Tax deductible doesn’t mean it costs you nothing.

  • Yes but I figured a pretty good approximation. I’m actually curious how much of a difference it would actually make.

  • Which is basically the same since 1g of water is 1ml.

  • Go through the book Automate The Boring Things (Python)

Then AFTER figure out your own projects.

  • You can definitely learn to program without being great at math. Obviously, depends on what kind of programming.

If you want a computer science degree though? You’ll need the math.

  • Same, it’s great!

  • You still need faceid to activate tap to pay. I’m not sure how activating user to user to user tap would make things any different.

  • Not regretting buying the Roku Ultra a few weeks ago 😎

  • I just want something to play my local media, not discovery of services and junk I don’t want.

Jellyfin is a great change from Plex for this.
