  • I don't like the new logo; it looks mean. The previous logo showed a charming bird that delivered my mail, the new one portrays a bird of prey clutching a letter, it will probably bite you if you try to retrieve the letter.

  • Where are you quoting this from? I could not find any information about a paywall.

  • It's Emily now if you did not know.

  • SponsorBlock has been added to alternative frontends as well, so there is a good chance DeArrow will be ported.

  • Interesting article, but according to it there where some pilot studies that tried to penalize citizens based on their social score. So I don't think the meme is entirely wrong.

  • I have been running Nextcloud since 2015 and can not confirm this.

  • They are a popular dish in many parts of Europe. I call them Palatschinken which is the Austrian name, but I think we imported them (like many other "Austrian" dishes) from other parts of the former empire.

  • Ever since I subscribed my subscription feed is basically unusable. 👍

  • Yes, and while that is terrible it is a completely separate issue not related to the Unabomber. Unless the point you are trying to make is, that we should have let a convicted terrorist go until he killed at least as many people as the US police.

  • Have you considered Godot? It supports a custom language called GDScript that is similar to Python and C# out of the box. There is also a community that maintains rust bindings.

  • They already did that Metro (Windows 8) was replaced by Fluent (Windows 10 and 11).

  • I don't even care if it looks more modern. I just want a consistent UI in Windows.

  • That thing uses the reddit API, you better be quick.

  • Windows 10 and 11, with WSL 2 I get all the benefits of Linux with little drawbacks. I used to use various flavours of Linux for quite some time but I got really tired of maintaining that system so I went back to Windows. Unfortunately Windows "just works" while with Linux every update felt like rolling some dice to see if my system still boots with a GUI the next day. Currently I work 100% remotely, I can not afford to have my PC to just stop working for a day or more. For servers I keep using Linux and it has been rock solid for that. Maybe I will make an another attempt in the future, I have a notebook that I use to try some distros. So far nothing impressed me enough to try to make the switch again.

  • I don't see a reason to migrate to another community. What guarantee is there that you don't loose interest in hosting lemmy next week? The lemmy.ml instance is far older and I don't think it will disappear any time soon, also the mod of this community is one of the lemmy maintainers (which is incidentally also written in rust).

  • For me it's Changeling: The Lost 2e. I tried running it once but I was struggling to write an engaging story for my players. Vampire is much easier in this regard just have the prince be a dick to the players and tell them to run. Another game I would really like to try is the Dresden Files RPG. I know next to nothing about it but the novels where a fun read; maybe something to look into when I find the time.
