  • I think the on screen keyboard is the main culprit. That thing is incredibly buggy sometimes. Some games just don't know what to do with that virtual keyboard.

  • Most likely. Some fossils are, although very hard, rather brittle as well.

  • Unironically, the most incompetent and technically annoying file format to work with.

  • As per usual with all the shit the conservatives do, it is cheaper. Electroplating requires a gigantic bath or a massive hermetically sealed room that can fit the entire volume of the statue. Such a thing either doesn't exist, would be irrational to pay to build or, if it exists, it is really expensive as a service to use it (repurposing a PCB plant, maybe?) Modern public consensus also considers gold anything to be tacky and corny, of very bad taste. Despite the rise of gold prices, the jewelry market is somewhat stagnant. It looks gaudy to have much gold anything around for decoration. So it stands to reason that there's actually few services that could electroplate gold to copper at such a scale, much less so a statue of the turd in chief.

  • Liberalism tried that, it turns out it is just capitalism but with a few extra bonuses for the haves and a bit extra oppression for the have nots. It's feel good capitalism. It's also why people will argue about whether Nordic Capitalism is or isn't Socialism. Just because they don't call it socialism. But they have universal healthcare, progressive social rights, strong worker unions, universal free education. BUT, they don't socialize the means of production, thus it is not socialism.

It turns out, that if a country historically gets rich enough from pillaging and plundering poorer countries, you can fake all the popular progressive policies without actually going into actual socialism. See also, Switzerland, or “never ask a Swiss bank how they got so rich”.

  • Even without democracy, power depends on the will of the in group to not conspire and kill the ruler. Every strong man knows this. They must keep the appearances or some other stronger person could gain the will to challenge and break them.

  • So, they all promptly forgot about the humane pin? Did it flop so hard it fell out of collective memory? These AI wearables solve absolutely no real world problem.

  • Lithium is not the most abundant part of a lithium ion battery, despite the name. It is very important but it is also very reusable. It can even, theoretically, be recycled. It will never be equivalent to oil. There's just not the same incentive to start wars over the thing.

  • I want to switch from taking pictures on a smartphone to using a small DSLR, which has brought me into a rabbit hole of photography. So, now I'm seriously considering taking up photography as a hobby and learning all there is to know about taking pictures.

  • The way normal works, if everyone here on lemmy does something one way, then that becomes the normal. There's no universal normal, because normal is always relative to context. The broader the context, then the wider and more diverse the normal becomes.

Or as my statistics professor liked to say “normal is a curve, get over it”.

  • There's a ton of stressing stuff in there.

  • Typically, people stay on the torrents because they are free, while all usenet costs money. Which is the point. Maybe genz can't even afford Usenet access.

  • Just like any something-virus. It isn't just one strain, it is usually a family of several diverse virus with slightly different features. Hanta virus has several varieties, this one is transmisible among humans.

  • Make original content, stop cross posting garbage.

  • From the crowd that came up with gems as "bank accounts are citizenship", "transactions are free speech" and "attorney fees are justice". Comes the latest madness "tax is a hate crime".

  • I am, never once have I ever mentioned or blamed believers.

  • What a dense brick of elitism. You speak so much that you stopped noticing when you contradict yourself. It is also rich when you accuse others of ignorance or misreading, when you don't even understand what your own words mean.

  • Music theory has a history, and you seem to be completely ignorant of it.
