  • Is it impolite to ask someone about their roots?

  • Eh it depends on the person and how much they identify with their roots. For some people ancestry is a fun hobby. For others it is something that they are trying to escape because throughout their lives people have judged them via stereotypes associated with it. So the easiest way is to ask: do you identify with your ancestory? Probably not that directly, you can allude to your interest.

  • If you were to generated a completely random sequence of sounds, how long would it take to produce music or a voice?

  • Well how fast are your producing it? Is it analog or digital? What is the interval of music / voice that is required? Are you normalizing it? Or are there variations in magnitude as well as frequency? Once you have these params then you should be able to create a closed form method and figure it out with statistics. (Now actually finding all those things out is probably difficult, what kind of random generator are you talking about? If it literally spits out a random wave for each tiny time interval then you could be there a while, if your adding random frequencies then it could be technically done very soon for certain definitions of music)

    Edit: i would start with finding how long it takes to get a sign wave because that would be an upper bound on the answer. If that upper bound happens really soon then yay. And can presume some other sound that fits a less strict criteria would happen before it. Don’t know if that information would be helpful in finding the lower bound, but maybe.

  • Well it all depends on what you’re doing. The A-10s can carry more ordinance, longer loiter times, more heavily armored than something like the f35.once you establish air superiority you need trucks to dump munitions as fast and cheaply as possible.

  • Yeah I don’t understand the tankie mindset. But its mostly the same as any other “ism”. Some of them have there principles, their tribe, and their books and then filter the world like that. Add to this the amount of propaganda for various positions that exists online and it gives them an easy out to label things that disagree with their filter as propaganda. I really so think this phenomenon is more attributable to the times than the people.

  • Yeah this is the way. Knowledge and a healthy respect for the damage a gun can cause is a good thing to teach them. Don’t hide it. I’m pretty far left in my politics; but I do think its a good think we have the second amendment for exactly this reason.

  • Having less compute may mean even more cables: rather than having data sent over one cable then decoded, each line is either on or off, controlling: something.. (there could be signals here just contemplating). In modern stuff the logic is condensed, with data running between, in effect these older systems were one distributed logic unit. Probably over simplifying hut think of an old motorcycle, many cables, because you have to run power and ground back and forth all the way from switches to lights motors etc and back again.
