I'm glad you sound to be feeling better!
I still don't really understand the how or why to any of this, and I can't say it's something that I feel actively working in any way, I just feel a bit better overall.
Both my total testosterone tests came back under 200, so I can only imagine that has at least seen a healthy bump upward.
I wish I had a better understanding of things, my primary doc has been willing to give me whatever tests and all that, but has just been "try it and let me know how it goes" more than anything. The specialist explained a bit more, but she's off having a baby now, so I feel I'm kinda on my own. I guess I'm fine with not knowing the how and why as long as it works and my blood test comes back fine, but I feel all my docs have been kinda lacking in helpfulness this year.
Between the androgel and CPAP though, I feel leaps and bounds better than I did 3 months ago, and I feel I'm still getting better benefits each week from both still.
I got a lot of medical tests done early this year. I was passing out at work and while driving. I couldn't concentrate, I couldn't motivate myself to participate in my hobbies or to take care of the house, etc. I felt week and tired all the time. I was worried my anti-depressant had stopped working and that I was going to get in an accident and die.
I took a sleep test and found I had severe apnea, waking or stopping breathing 70 times an hour. Got on PAP therapy and it made a big difference to me first thing in the morning, but I was still crashing in the late afternoon.
Doc had ordered a ton of bloodwork, including various tests for testosterone levels. My man parts have never given me issue, so I didn't think anything of it. I associated testosterone replacement as the snake oil stuff others here are mentioning, people wanted to get swol, or just vainly attempt to recapture their youth.
Turns out, at my peak, I have 1/3 or less the testosterone of a normal male. And that's first thing in the morning when it's at its highest level. I was nervous about trying it as it can have serious side effects, mainly from thickened blood, but the doc said if I don't like it, no biggie coming off for the most part. I opted for the gel to get a daily small dose instead of the biweekly shot and have a peak and a valley.
My depression is back to normal being treated with a SSRI, I feel more confident again, I am participating in things I like doing, I'm taking better care of myself and my house, and I'm not falling asleep at work, the car, or right when I get home anymore. It's pretty cheap medicine, and I just run it onto my upper arms and shoulders and make sure my wife doesn't touch those spots for a few hours.
I thought it was BS, but it seems to really be helping. In a few weeks I'll have my first blood results after treatment and see how it is going for real, but it's making a big positive improvement in my life and it's keeping me safe.
Anyone got info on the Jan 31 incident that is the origin of this? I couldn't find anything, just an earlier shouting match between the cops and Lions.
Typically, open carry is legal in all of Pennsylvania except Philadelphia, where you need a carry license to open carry. Usually the Philly-only gun laws get overturned rather quickly, but this seems to have remained in place for 20 years with few legal challenges.
Dunno why the ATF was brought into the original comments, as this seems to be a city and/or state issue. Feds don't look to be involved here.
Summit on mobile, plain old web version on the laptop.
I'm in the US, so we learn (some) about African people that were brought here and to the Caribbean. It is terrible what happened, but they came up with many great things to help them get through. They brought with them foods, music, and traditions that now feel engrained in the greater society here, regardless of one's origins.
We still have a very long way to go on fixing people's biases, but many people have much more foreign influence in their daily lives than they might be aware of.
With pending uncertainty of the effects of climate change, who knows who the next group of immigrants will be, and those people should hope that they have shown good treatment to those seeking help in the past.
I'm getting quite the education here! I will have to read more on this when I get home!
You've got me beaten on deciphering it!
I saw some symbols were in similar spots like the beetle in a circles up top, but the waves to the bottom left weren't there at all.
Maybe some consolidation was done to make as much fit within the limits of the accuracy of the mold used or something along those lines.
I love all the quick breads, since I can make them up quickly whenever something calls for some. It's also fun to mix in random ingredients to suit my mood. Breads are some of my favorite foods in general.
I can't understand why people still get so hung up on immigration. We have the rich and modern cultures we have because we haven't stayed in one place and kept to ourselves. We move about and share the best of our ideas with each other and find ways to make even greater things. Food, music, stories, science, and so much more. Never have I learned something about another group of people and felt I was worse off than before. Even if it isn't something I would enjoy for me, it shows me something I had never considered before.
My pleasure!
I went looking for recipes, but ended up with a history lesson as well about Indian people in the Caribbean. Very interesting, and the food sounds delicious!
I make roti frequently, but whenever I try to stuff them, I get too overzealous and they all poke out and make a mess. 😄
It is! The shots are normally around 600 to 800 each, and you need 3, typically.
The clinic out there does a spring and fall event so new volunteers and anyone needing a booster can come all on the same days. One vial of vaccine holds enough to do 10 people, so instead of giving one shot and tossing the rest as would happen if we all got shots randomly, they schedule us to all come on the same days, and pass the savings on to us, as most of us aren't paid to do this work.
I tested positive for antibodies, but not high enough to safely work with rabies vector animals, so I'm due for a booster. I believe we need to get a titer every 2 years to show we still have proper antibody levels to keep working with them.
So it's a bit of a hassle, but we have so many cute critters that I can't work with without doing it!
Meatball the groundhog
A tiny baby fox they brought back to life after it passed. It's big now, and still just as adorable!
Well, it's bed time here, but in the morning I'm going on a road trip to get another preventative rabies shot. I didn't build up enough antibodies from the 3 shots last fall to work with raccoons and foxes and such, so I'm giving it another try.
It's a 5-6 hour round trip, but another wildlife center is running a discount program, so it saves me $500 or so, even with gas taken into account.
I think it's very fair to want, but not need, to be treated the same in return.
I also think there's a difference between helping a stranger vs someone you know and see regularly.
If I help a stranger, I'm not going to expect squat from them. But if you do something nice like cover a friend's share of the tab or something, I'd expect the same in return at some point. I wouldn't necessarily say anything, but if it's a repeated thing, it doesn't make you a bad person to stop helping them.
Being a good person doesn't mean being a doormat, and I think it's important to understand the difference. Doing nice things for people is great. Doing things to be nice while hurting yourself, that probably shouldn't be a regular thing. I've seen a lot of friends suffer emotionally or financially due to bad friends, or especially bad family, because it makes them feel bad to cut people off that take but never give in kind.
Voted in my primary this week.
I rarely see any third party in the ballot, and most seem to be some form of Republican but worse.
I don't know if I could vote for an anti-capitalist in the near future in the system we have now. We aren't really set up to give a third party capitalist a fair shot, let alone an anti-capitalist. It is near impossible to even form a union and has so far been impossible to gain universal healthcare, so electing an anti-capitalist is going to be harder than that.
If it were a primary and I was fine with the leading Democratic candidate, then I'd be fine showing support for a more radical party if I shared their beliefs.
Do you understand if you’re nicer people will put more effort in and if not they’ll probably just not bother helping you understand something?
You’re acting like I need to argue with you about this, I don’t.
If you want to be wrong, I’m 100% ok just never trying to help you understand something
I had something much longer written after I saw this post, but I don't think that approach will work with you. I delete so many comments before posting because I see you in a thread and decide it isn't worth it. I agree with you on a ton of stuff, but you make me want to avoid so many interactions here. I must not understand what type of help you think you are giving people, but you are one of the few people I actively avoid because you come off so confrontational no matter what other people say. I don't block you because I don't think you are stupid or that your takes are necessarily bad, but hell, do you ever say them in the worst way possible so often.
This is solely meant to be constructive, I want so badly to like seeing your comments, but you make it such a challenge. After what feels like months of feeling this way, I just had to say it. If you approached your comments in a different way, you could be someone that I could really learn from due to the amount you share and the importance of a lot of it, but you make someone even as calm as I am just clench up and expect confrontation, so I go out of my way to avoid you. Take that how you will, but again, just an honest opinion and something intended to be helpful.
