  • Same guy, but no, I was referring to Omarchy and DHH himself.

  • And I'd argue that positioning their company as the moral choice makes their decision to support bigots worse than if they'd never positioned themselves that way in the first place. Which makes them basically no different to HP or DELL.

  • Care to support the transphobes angle with evidence? Or does it work like an honorary title?

Interesting that you chose to be passive aggressive and get your back up at the the idea that he's transphobic, rather than simply asking for evidence...

In any case, he did an article on his blog celebrating Abigail Shrier and her transphobic Irreversible Damage book. I'm not going to link to his blog, but if you want to find it, it was posted in March 2024

  • I'd be happy to if I could find any evidence it were true.

  • They support and fund DHH

  • The question was are they moral. They're not. The fact no one else is either doesn't excuse that

  • Yay, yet another tech company funding racists and transphobes is doing well :/

  • Transitioning.

    Tattoos.

    Joining the Fediverse

  • That sounds real, but I think you made it up

  • Somewhere along the line, I stopped wanting that version of me.

That version of me that sees a trans woman and can only offer awkward support? The loss of solidarity, and community...

That would be such a loss...

  • If it sticks around for long enough, it eventually gets logged

  • The difference is, phone companies and card providers between them can more easily lock down and restrict who has access to NFC compatible apps. There are no rogue payment apps popping up to challenge the status quo.

So they see more use in richer countries

  • Expressing transphobia is not welcome on lemmy. You only have to look at the amount of upvotes "subtle" transphobia and "just asking questions" transphobia still gets to realise that there are still lots of transphobes around that have just learned to keep it close to their chest. They still express it through votes though

  • You're more likely to alienate people who could have been allies than achieve anything of merit

Someone who thinks giving up Rowling is too big an ask was never an ally in any way that actually means anything..

  • lbz doesn't do downvotes, which means communities hosted on lbz don't do downvotes, and any downvotes received are ignored, without federating them out.

  • Basically no. At least not at the time you wrote your comment. Community ownership changed a couple of hours after your post though!
