    There's a safety sensor that tells the unit whether it's okay to stay lit. The sensor is designed to be the first thing to go bad, as protection against worse things that could happen.

    But the sensor is now integrated into the entire burner unit. It may not be possible to replace only the sensor.

    If your unit had a five-year warranty, it's time to shop for a new one. It'll cost more to fix than to replace, unless you're comfortable dismantling the burner yourself.

    If your unit had a longer warranty, get it serviced now before the warranty expires.
