Not the one.

  • Scary AF. I imagine if this happened in Gatorland, FL with a gator population of over 2000 on over 100 acres. Disney would have bigger problems than DeSantis.

  • Hoping that Corepunk isn't dead. It was looking great in development, but the main dev team was in Ukraine. Was supposed to have CBT last year. Every so often would get breadcrumbs of the work they were doing but it seems to have fallen off. Totally understandable knowing their whole lives and families were impacted by the Russian invasion and continued destruction of Ukraine. Hoping that once they are able to get a semblance of normality back into their lives they will still want to finish the project.

  • Welcome! This is a great instance, but don't forget to check out communities on all instances. I start by viewing by all, and then when you find a community you like, subscribe to it. Sometimes there are duplicate communities on different servers. You can subscribe to all/both and the widdle down the ones that are most active or the ones you prefer to participate in. Once you got a good set of communities that you are subscribed to it is easier to avoid the things you don't want to see.

Generally people are very friendly if you have questions. You can attempt to look for an answer to your question that may already have been posted in various communities or posts, but at the moment it is a bit difficult to search for individual questions amongst the entire federation and various instances.

Try out one of the apps. I am an android user and prefer Sync, Connect, and Voyager. iOS has Memmy and a few others I am not familiar with. I find it easier to maneuver around Lemmy with an app but the default browser UI works just as well.

    Enjoy!

  • Not sure if this is taught in school anymore, but I found the outline process of note-taking to be helpful in both lectures and reading material.

This was the most decent website I came up with that describes the process: https://www.taskade.com/blog/outline-method-of-note-taking/

I felt it was the best way of quickly organizing topics, subtopics, and important items in a way that was simple to read and understand relationships between subjects.

  • Similarly, science geeks of all sorts (biology, nature, space, math, physics, etc) should check out the mander.xyz communities.

!health@lemmy.world is not terribly active but they have pinned posts of a lot of health based communities and resources in the fediverse.

  • Deja Fantasia - also my GW2 Mesmers name.

  • I'd be surprised if this is a rising trend knowing how the cost of eggs has increased over the last couple of years. Just seems like a terrible waste.

  • Trying to become a more "active" listener. My brain tends to want to immediately come up with a response without fully waiting to hear the whole conversation. Hence often, I speak before I think and/or before the person I was listening to was finished talking. I am trying to quiet my brain until the speaker finishes their commentary before I pause and work on a thoughtful reply as opposed to blurting out the first thing that comes to my mind.

  • Do you have hide read posts as an option? Sync will hide all posts including pinned ones if you read them. Might want to play around with those settings.

  • As I have gotten older, the frequency of episodes have decreased. In my early 40's now. I would say it occurs at least once every 3-4 months as opposed to weekly in my teens.

  • And I helped!!!

  • Twins!

  • And good protein!

  • I've been hopping around between the different Android apps and PWAs however, I always seem to come back to Voyager (wefwef). My primary app on Reddit was sync and hope to return to it if it functions as it did on the other site. If not, I am enjoying Connect and Jerboa. Thunder, Summit, and Liftoff have small things I would like to see tweaked and/or they have minor bugs that they are still ironing out, but I am not yet sold on a specific app yet until we get further down the road.

  • Create one? :) If you build it, they will come.

  • I feel a part of it is similar to anger of the natural process of grieving. Many of us spent years contributing to the platform and enjoyed just spending time with other like-minded members of subreddits. I personally loved reading the chains of comments. Reddit was a great source of pleasure; a place for sharing humor, frustrations, and other random cool things. Much of what made it enjoyable, including he third party apps, was taken away in a fashion that felt like the user base was betrayed, hence the utter vehement expression of some former users. It will pass in time.
