  • Wow 87% disapproval is a much higher number than what I imagined.

Reading the headline I was expecting it was like a 60% disapproval

  • Assistant was made 100x stupider over the course of the years. I clearly remember in 2020 asking basic questions like "where's Lima" and it replied "Peru", while since 2023 it replied "ok, starting navigation to Lima, Peru, estimated time 2 days and 10 hours".

Around 2023 also they made the voice assistant completely useless by changing the responses from "for this answer open the link in your notification bar on the phone" to "sorry, I didn't understand", which was pissing me off too much. I completely stopped to use it as 9 questions out of 10 would be "sorry I didn't understand" instead of "I understood but I'm not programmed to give a voice answer, use your phone".

Navigation by voice was a complete disaster.

    "Navigate to

    <CONTACT NAME>

" - "Ok navigating to <a random business 1000 km away with a name slightly similar to what I said>"

Or, it dropped the road name: you asked to go to "street name, city" and it placed the destination on the geographic center of that city

Also the navigation instructions would have maximum priority and would play even when listening to a command.

"Send a message: I'm going to be late

    <assistant overlaps my speech>

" - "Sending: I'm going to be late on the next exit take the right lane then after 600 meters turn left. Ready to send it?"

"Call Anna" - "OK, I call Daniel"

  • And of course it got removed by reddit mods without explanation lol (or, if there's an explanation, it's behind the YOU MUST INSTALL OUR APP OR GTFO! paywall and I chose to GTFO)

  • Yes but unfortunately it’s the only one that is coded to strip paywalls instead of archiving the page as-is

  • i adjusted hue and saturation to increase contrast

  • Until now I never saw something written in OpenDyslexic that was this unreadable

I know that you did it with good heart for accessibility but with this colors is really unreadable

  • Background: many people vibe coded a python proxy for the official Claude code app "converting" its outputs as an openai compatible API to be used with openclaw

edit: i did some web search and found snippets like:

OpenClaw spawns Claude Code sessions via ACP

    and

ACP gives OpenClaw a way to run external coding harnesses — Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI — as supervised child processes instead of doing everything inline in the main agent loop.

so it looks like openclaw users were using this ACP method as a workaround to use a $20 subscription to get $1000 worth of token usage. I'm guessing that openclaw JSON example posted in the article is the configuration of this ACP server or something like that.

there’s a rich history of smaller networks trying to make their money from patriots, Christians, and Republican voters.

    Patriot mobile

Texas-based Patriot Mobile bills itself as “America’s ONLY Christian conservative wireless provider,” which I’m afraid to say is blatantly untrue.

Patriot Mobile sells Charlie Kirk hoodies and phone cases with the thin blue line or Israeli flag graphics, and runs an affiliate marketing scheme specifically for churches.

The company says it “contributes millions of dollars every year to those on the front lines,” by which it means organizations including Turning Point USA, CPAC, and the National Association of Christian Lawmakers, while funding conservative candidates in elections across Texas.

    Radiant

Radiant hasn’t actually launched yet, but it promises a grand debut on Easter Sunday. It claims to be the “first Christian wireless service in the world,” our second outright lie of the day.

Nothing about Radiant’s marketing is explicitly political — instead it calls itself “a groundbreaking fusion of faith, technology, and entertainment.” It’s partnered with Israeli security company Allot to provide “network-level content filtering” that blocks out pornography, gambling, and “harmful digital influences.”

As for the entertainment part, it offers AI-generated retellings of biblical stories, some for adults, some for kids, some inexplicably narrated by AI Snow White. These appear to be part of a gamified app that promises — as if it’s a good thing — “more screen time.” AI Snow White Bible bedtime stories, what could be more Christian?

    Charity Mobile

Charity… that sounds good, right? Unless… there was such a thing as a bad charity? That can’t be right. And Charity Mobile lets you decide which charity it donates to, so you’re in control anyway. Oh wait, let me look again. It donates 5 percent of your payment to “the Pro-Life, Pro-Family charity of your choice.” Ah.

In fairness, this isn’t exactly hidden in the small print. Charity Mobile proudly declares itself to be “the Pro-Life phone company,” and it wants to make sure you know it: Land on the homepage and you’ll be met by a screen-filling fetus and told to “choose life.” You can probably guess what the company’s Instagram looks like.

  • Infuriating because 16 is a number too high, right?

  • Don't need, just request the desktop site, read the post, then close the page without interacting or reading more content. They're doing us a favor

  • Right now they are:

it's patch Tuesday!!!!!!1!1!!!! We MUST release immediately an update or the users will revolt!!

But Sir, preliminary testing says that it has a 80% bricking chance with full data loss, can we postpone it?

PUSH. IT. NOW. Force the install and make sure to reboot all the computers during the working hours, bonus if you force close all the opened apps without saving

  • The company views a third party app called File Pilot as benchmark for these [file search] improvements

That app is still in beta and was launched one year ago.

They're comparing the search from the native shell (where they could directly query the NTFS table like Everything does and get instant results), native to their OS with 40 years of experience with some unknown newcomer still in beta???

  • I saw on a YouTube video that they have some "quick, it's a limited deal!" events that pop up all the time where you're forced to get 3 items or more in order to get the free bonus and you need to do it QUICKLY and can only choose from a limited pool of items that the algorithm chose for you according to what it thinks you like, so people is buying shit for FOMO

  • Lol it's true

It's wild that they recognized that software compiled for their own operating system goes faster through an interpreter on a different operating system

  • The incompetence of the day is the administration placing Australian flags instead of the UK ones

  • Google is going to push an update that will automatically install without consent or permission to all android devices and after the install, the disable toggle will appear buried in the settings, somewhere in developer settings

  • Somehow I'm getting this ads on Facebook:
