Sounds like Gnome is your best bet in that case, no other desktop comes close. Like @LIESGREEDMISERY@lemmy.ml suggested, fedora might be worth a shot. I don't like how it's software repositories work but it shouldn't be that bad if you're ok with using the command line to unlock the expanded repos. Once you got that you got one of the best Gnome experiences you can get on linux and a very solid linux distribution underneath.
Yeah I appreciate how our 2 biggest desktop environments are so unique from each other. Imagine if we had just KDE and XFCE or Gnome 2 and enlightenment. We got multiple different desktop environments that go in entirely different directions and smaller desktop environments that make a sort of gradient in between as well.
honestly for a laptop these days it's not that bad. Especially because you can upgrade mainboards (along with the CPU) so instead of buying a new laptop after several years you can upgrade your mainboard for instead
I still can’t get my head around why anyone would voluntarily use a touchpad when they can connect a mouse to their laptop
I used to think the same until I broke my mouse and went without one for a while and ended up just sticking without one because its a lot more convenient than always bringing a mouse around having to find a good flat surface to use it on. I usually end up using my laptop on my lap or at a small desk where a mouse would be clunky and unnecessary.
This is different because in most shooter games you're shooting nameless faceless bots that could easily be replaced with literal robots, zombies, moving punching bags, or anything else because at it's core its a point and click game. This is worse because it creates a character with a name, a face, emotions and who talks. These people are being sadistic to something because it appears to behave like a normal person would by the things they do.
You can search users from peertube apparently, though their posts don't show up yet. For example if you search @thelinuxexperiment@tilvids.com in lemmy.ml his account shows up, but again no videos because that part hasn't been worked out I guess.
I hope more english lemmy instances come out too because at this point the biggest limitation for me isn't a lack of offsite comm exploration, there just aren't a lot of english comms in other instances with any number of users. Even with that though I do wish there was a way to explore comms on other instances instead of having to go out of my way to that instance and look for interesting comms.
there's !pcbm@lemmygrad.ml which about as close as you'll get but idk why you'd want more polcompmemes. It's one of the most garbage reddit communities in recent memory.
