  • Governments should not be using Twitter. They should all move to Bluesky and Mastodon. If you still have a Twitter account please only use it to encourage people to migrate to other platforms. Don't use it for anything else.

  • Do not despair. Nothing in politics is permanent. It may be difficult but we can solve this together. Be sure to read this article to the end where it has the calls to action. Those are all good ideas. In addition I want to mention:

One thing everyone should do is vote in every election, even local elections.

Also specifically for when it mentions public funding try calling your representative and asking for this. It does matter.

In addition also work to defund right wing propaganda by calling advertisers and urge them to stop advertising on Fox and other right wing stations. Also if you have a TV subscription make sure the package doesn't include Fox News. If it's impossible to remove Fox News call the company and ask for a no Fox option. If enough people call they may one day offer it. This step is important because Fox News gets most of its money from carriage fees.

In addition boycott Twitter/X and also Meta (Facebook/Instagram/Threads) and switch to Mastodon and Bluesky. Make sure your friends do the same.

  • I think public funding with independent editorial control is the way to go. It's not perfect by any means but it's the best we have.

  • The whole point is that not enough people are voting. Look at how many people stayed home in the most recent US election.

What I'm trying to say if people wanted to make a big impact on climate change they should organize and rally around people who want to stop climate change.

  • I got one word for you: Vote.

Corporations like BP push individual responsibility and personal carbon footprint[1] to try to neutralize you from achieving real policy gains which would have a much greater impact than your individual action. Time spent trying to convince people to vote for politicians who take climate change seriously is far more productive than time spent trying to educate people about their so-called carbon footprint. Of course we all play a part but seeing this chart it's clear we need more action and that's why I'm saying this.

  • Exactly! Twitter cost $44 billion but his wealth doubled from $200 billion to $400 billion after becoming President of the United States along with co-president Trump.

  • I get what you're saying there. I should have read the article closer. Yes, you're right about that.

  • I read the article and it doesn't really seem that bad. What he says is this:

“Basically what the party needs is some sort of a force – whoever it is – of people who are perceived as future leaders going out and saying: this is what we want this party to stand for. I did it in the 80s and 90s. They can decide what’s appropriate for the 20s and 30s.”

He's not telling us how he wants the party changed, he's just calling for a big visible change in the party that will help us win elections again.

  • It's shocking how often people blame Democrats for things which are clearly Republicans' fault. If Democrats had better margins and were elected more often working class people would have much better lives.

  • I'd never get on a Tesla robo Taxi. I don't want my money going to a neo-Nazi supporting CEO and de-facto president of the US.

  • If we get enough Democrats in 2026 we could impeach Trump and Vance.

  • He's acting president.

  • If Project 2025 becomes a reality we might start seeing headlines which say "In the United States, couples who divorce will be sent to labor camps".

  • No country is safe from Elon Musk's election interference. It's urgent that we boycott Twitter and Tesla. If you have a Twitter account do the following now:

    1. Send a DM to your favorite accounts and urge them to stop using Twitter.
    2. (If you haven't already) register for Bluesky.
    3. Make a Tweet saying you are no longer using Twitter.
    4. Tell your friends to follow the same instructions.

These could take as little as five minutes of your time but it will make a huge difference because of the ripple effect. When one person leaves it will automatically incentivize your friends to follow you. You have the power to make a difference.

  • This is a lie. People just spread this to trick you into not voting so the Republicans win.

  • You understand how things work! Ignore the apathy trolls. They are trying to silence your vote. Here's what actually happens if you vote for the lesser of two evils. You're rights are protected and next time use the primary process to pick someone even better.
