Hello! I'm Alex a.k.a. Ultra. I use NixOS (btw) and am a Reddit refugee.

I'm Gen Z, btw.

Even if I don't mention this in the replies, thanks for taking the time to reply to my help posts, even if your solution isn't quite right.

  • Nice, I actually like that. Danke!

  • How?

EDIT: now it works. Weird. I used to get a message saying "lemmy.one isn't an instance"

  • IMO the better thing to do would be to convert it into a Lemmy client. I heard someone is making a Lemmy API that works like reddit's, so maybe it could use that when it's ready?

Either way, I'm starting to work on my own Lemmy app written in React Native. If you have a name better than "ymmel" (reverse "lemmy"), please tell me.

    • I don't necessarily have a problem with the users, but with the (far left or tankie) posts in the instance
    • I've already done that for some Lemmygrad communities, I guess I'll have to do that for all of them.
    • The problem with creating an instance is that Jerboa only works with preset instances (I tried logging into my lemmy.one account, but it said that it isn't an instance).

    But thanks for replying anyways!

  • Thanks, but this is only for a community. I'd like to block every community on Lemmygrad

  • They said that they're keeping old reddit.

But they also told Christian Selig that the API won't be changing anytime soon...

  • It's better to just improve Lemmy than keep going on Reddit. They keep doing more and more shitty anti-user things, for their IPO (initial public offering). This is probably just the beginning

  • r/outside, r/shittyaskscience

  • I don't have thos on S22 ultra (exynos)

  • Probably, since it's decentralised people can just move to another instance if the mods on theirs abuse their power.

  • Same.

  • NixOS, because all of the config in my system is declared in a few files on GitHub and it has a huge package repo.

Also it has all of the other advantages of a Linux distro, like privacy, speed and customisability.

  • I grew up with Windows (the first version I used was 7, close to the launch of 10) and even I think CLI is easier (I now use NixOS)

  • This but with SD cards

  • r/NixOS

  • I think that was a joke

  • I think I found out about it from stuff like open-source news in 2022, and made an account but never really used it. Now, with the Reddit API changes, I gave it another try and I love it!
