A middle-aged nerd from the UK. I like films and write about them, sometimes for Film Stories or my blog.

Have a great day.

  • The wife and I tried watching yesterday. We only lasted three sketches, didn't think it was very funny at all which was a huge shame as we loved their original sketch show. Bring back Sir Digby Chicken Cesar! 😁

  • There are several games that come to mind.

Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings was due to be released on mutiple consoles but the leaders were the Xbox360/PS3 versions.

One of the selling points was a unique ragdoll system which meant when you punched a bad guy, there was no set animation of them falling down. The ragdoll physics did it's job.

There were several videos released during production, usually at E3 shows.

Sadly, the delays keeper getting longer. While there was no official release date, we wondered if they would tie it on to the release of Crystal Skull. The film came and went both theatrically and on home formats but no game.

Then one day, the first official trailer was released, I watched it with excitement. Then the gut punch, at the end of the trailer, it only had logos for PSP, Wii and DS.

Soon after, we learnt the game was cancelled. Some early rough gameplay footage is online.

Another is Star Wars: 1313. The game would tell the story of how Boba Fett became the famous bounty hunter and acquire the armour. This E3 trailer got me so excited.

I think the game was cancelled when Disney bought Lucasfilm.

    Finally Star Wars: Rogue Leaders.

Essentially, the two Rogue Leader games from the GameCube remastered for the Wii.

According to an interview, this would have been pushing the Wii to it's graphical limits, I think they mentioned 60fps.

There was also extra Wii enhancements such as lightsabre battles with Wii MotionPlus remotes and even using the Balance Board as part of ship controls.

If I remember rightly, the game was fully finished but they couldn't find an interested publisher. He's the trailer.

  • I heard, I can't remember where, that ALL flags of any kind where being removed in certain places due to then being a health and safety risk.

Of course you can guess who jumped on the story and twisted it for their own means.

EDIT: Also, today I drove along the M25, junction 2 to the M3 and almost every bridge had a flag for each direction.

  • I wouldn't call it a bad change, quite the opposite but when I read Fight Club, I was amazed how faithful the film was to the book. There are just two major changes I can remember.

In the book, Tyler Durden meets the narrator on a (nude?) beach where Tyler is erecting driftwood into the sand so that the shadow looks like a hand. (It's been a very long time since I read it, I think that's right.)

Secondly, the narrator struggles all through the story to remember the correct formula for the home made explosive. If he doesn't know, then Tyler doesn't know. Which means the explosives at the end don't go off. The buildings stay standing.

  • From what I remember, 1984's Dune is basically the book condensed down into the highlights. If you've read the book, fine but otherwise, it must be quite confusing.

  • When I see a screenshot of Google Gemini saying that the word Oreo is a palindrome (it's spelt the same backwards and forwards), I don't know why we're all running towards AI to do everything. Plus there's the environmental cost as well.

  • I think the term life hack is ridiculous in itself. (Cue old man rant) In my day they were tips and advice. You're not hacking anything. 😁

  • I've poked my head round the door several times but it must be the wrong time of day. It's always quiet. 😁

  • I highly recommend this podcast. I only discovered them earlier in the year and have started from the beginning. I'll be up to date soon and hope to join in with their schedule.

  • I remember getting hold of this game and the typing in the Doom cheat code for invulnerability. it kills you instantly! 😂

  • I've seen the thumbdrive/buying from Amazon sequence on Instagram. I'm going to have to watch the full scene now for myself on Prime.

So glad I didn't watch this, I was fairly interested from the trailer.

  • I find these petitions pointless as the response will probably be, "Lol. No."

However, this online safety act has been harmful to many websites who have had to block access from the UK or just shut down altogether. Simply because they can't afford to take a risk based on these new laws and the issues they bring.

  • I thought season one was fantastic. Sadly, I felt that season 2 was a massive let down. I won't be watching season 3, it's lost me.

  • Oh, I remember this one. It was confusing but fun. My friend and I linked PCs via serial cable but I think my machine was too slow to handle it.

He could fly around and shoot me down with no issues but all I could see was a slideshow! It was unplayable. 😄

  • I had a 3D TV back then and no one seemed to notice that the transfer had a flaw. Awesome film no matter how you watch it.

  • As much as I'd love that to happen, I don't think it ever will.

I remember watching a video by Dredd's producer explaining that all the investors made a loss on Dredd. Therefore any chance of a sequel was dead.

  • I'm pretty sure I bought this day one back in the day. I loved all the live action cut scenes. Depending on which side of the force you decided to follow, there are two different endings to the game.

I just completed the Dark Forces remaster, I wonder how well this one holds up today?

  • I remember when it opened in my hometown by Julian Clary.

If regularly go every Monday to see what the new VHS releases were and then on a Friday for the latest games.

I'm sure I went for a midnight launch of something but I can't remember what. It might have been The X Files on VHS?

Just double checked on a Wiki, they started releasing two episodes a tape, two tapes a month. But the show became so popular, they scrapped that after just a couple of months and decided to do it differently.

This was before major internet, so I would discover things at hmv if never heard of before.

I remember discovering a 4CD soundtrack set to the Star Wars trilogy. A CD for each film with the fourth CD containing rare unreleased music. Bought that instantly I think.

Yeah, lots of other memories too. 😁

  • Yeah, both my kids are different levels of autistic but it wasn't until my wife pointed out that I was too, it all suddenly clicked into place.

For reference, I would've been about 47 when this happened, a couple of years ago.
