  • So many problems with this. I assume they're thinking of using an LLM since it would need to read language. It would need to adapt to our ever-moving Internet culture, knowing what intent is meant.

How well does it know irony? Slang? Taboo topics? Fresh new gen-z TikTok language?

"He should step on lego.. in a video game..", no way it will work at this early stage of AI.

I think AI could be useful to help actual human moderators to THEN determine if the activity is bad or not. But that's only doing some of the work.

I think manual reports from the users goes a long way on its own.

  • I remember there was one fact I was really beating my head on; A dishwasher should always have some food or other gunk on the dishes before starting the machine, otherwise the detergent will attack the coloring on the dishes instead.

How has no company solved this problem? It makes no sense. Many people do wash their kitchenware so it doesn't stink up the entire dishwasher if it has been sitting for a while... idk.

I would be happy to hear if anyone can help confirm or dismiss this.

  • I would like to see your raw words and feelings instead though

  • I use Firefox, but tbh I don't know why. Chrome is usually always faster when I have tested..

I think it's def nice to give attention to the only other big browser that doesn't use chromium under the hood

  • By also being their best friend

  • 8 billion people in this world, just find someone else. Perhaps the person you cheated with...?

  • I have a follow-up question to the 4 day a week desire.. would you be ok with having 4/5 of your original pay for a 4 day a week work schedule?

  • I'm guessing it started off as some anti botting strategy, than later realized it's a nice technique to force people to interact a bit more with the product the way it wants to be used.

Since you now went out of your way to interact with Reddit, you now have a stronger emotional attachment to this newly discovered scary unknown things.

I think the answer is that it's psychological.

  • Accidentally broke lemmy.world's ToS. But look up John Cena (or jc141) on 1337x

  • Only for transactional practical reasons, not any kind of deep talk..

  • Being the person in control of the Twitter, YouTube, TikTok algorithms i think can manipulate people on an efficient manner

  • I think the main thing here is original content.

It's easy to just go to Reddit, find an equivalent community, then copy paste some tending posts.. Although I guess it's nice for people here if they never knew what's on the other side anyways, creating original content is inherently much more powerful

  • Your counciousness hates it, and your unconsciousness loves it

  • Dark pattern design obviously

  • I don't know about you, but I feel sad watching the grass cutter robots just.. cut grass all day. Do you think the robot even wants to do it? The program forces it to cut grass. It's cruel

  • Hmmm, so what now

  • Incredible!

I tested this last year when I moved into a new place having been up all night.. went to bed at 19, and woke up at 3 AM. From there I kept it going throughout the year.

I used to enjoy being up late for the peace and quiet but damn, you can rather get that in the morning AND feel good about it at the same time

  • It will work with a bit more effort but... Look into the development workflow of Lemmy on GitHub, I don't think the creators have this in their scope at all.

You could fork the project and integrate a chat into the existing code...

Moderation is a big elephant in the room here too. Have you ever seen an anarchy chat before? It is close to the 4chan culture, just a bit worse.

I like hearing new ideas, but realistically this feature is too much work for what Lemmy really needs right now.
