We did enjoy it! Wingspan works well for us as a 3 person game, especially since the three of us are bird nerds and learned it together, but I know what you mean about presenting it to a group.
We have Europe and Oceana expansions, I can't remember which adds nectar as food but that really does improve the play.
VFR into IMC is pretty deadly no matter which way the rotors are pointed.
