  • Eating jam near white bed sheets? No thank you!

  • I'm still wondering if the Peruvian panflute dude following Chakotay around all the time is regulation or not. Like does he have clearance? What if Chakotay needs his flutes playing during classified meetings? Does he run out to the hallway to get the dude? Does he have an MP3 player full of panflute tracks in his pocket he can whip out? So many questions....

  • Most of the things you mentioned like insects and spiders don't have a mind. Their brains are too small for anything resembling a mind. It's all instinct, learnt responses based on stimuli.

Something like a cat or a dog is smart enough to have some kind of internal concept of the world around them, but still very limited. It's hard to say how much of a mind they have, but it's much simpler than the one humans have. There are simply cognitive tests one can do on small children, which most animals fail. Although cats are notoriously hard to test in these kinds of things, because they don't give a fuck and if they don't feel like cooperating they just won't.

But humans are unique in this aspect, the way we have minds is something no other animal has. It's the unique trait that has made us masters of this planet (for better or worse, probably worse). Perhaps some animals like dolphins and some apes can come closer, but their mind would be similar to a very young child at best.

  • Pabu looks majestic, I would follow him into battle.

  • Tips my fedora as a sign of respect, whilst secretly studying the blade.

  • You are a good dad for getting your son something he can really use. Most people would just give their kids a tablet or cheap out and get something that just barely works. This is a good machine I would happily use myself (after putting Linux on it). A bit chunky for taking it on the road, but presumably he would just use it at home anyways.

  • I use Arch btw, so it's my job to say you should totally use Arch.

  • Do you have any idea how little that narrows it down?

  • Did I say death camps? I meant happy camps

  • How is this in any way funny? A Nato country threatening to invade and capture another Nato country? That's exactly the kind of bullshit Nato was founded to prevent from happening.

  • Around 12.000 people are killed by stairs each year in the US alone. And so many more injured. Stairs are a menace!

  • I especially liked the part where they designed the sensors inside domes, so they could handle the pressure without any issue. But then when one imploded it caused a cascade failure that destroyed a huge part of the thing. It left the whole thing crippled for years as they struggled on with just a small part of the sensors (which they redistributed and beefed up a bit). Luckily a few years later it got a full upgrade and rebuild, so it was back to 100% again.

  • The Prestige

I absolutely love that movie, but the first time watching, when that one moment hits. Such emotions I've seldomly had when watching a movie.

    Maybe honerable mention for Seven?

  • Wasn't the IPO of SpaceX setup to be a rug pull? With them only selling a small part of the shares and current shareholders being able to sell their shares way sooner than normal. They put it up at a ridiculous price, idiots buy it because somehow there's always large groups of people buying into Musks bullshit. Then before the price drops the current share holders sell that part of their shares. This would make them so much money and would allow Musk to pay off the debt he made with his fuckups in the past.

Is any of this legal? Doesn't really matter since the Trump administration has pretty much killed any kind of oversight and consequences for this kind of thing. No wonder we saw Musk hanging out with Trump all of the time.

  • Some of those Emmanuelle movies were legit good. I also liked the Emmanuelle in space movies.

  • It's a good first step, but I already know they will be fine with only 300% of previous prices. They aren't investing all this money to sell to the lowest bidder.

  • What is this "going outside" you are talking about? Sounds very interesting

  • You might want to try some of the Souls games and enjoy whole new levels of being tilted.

  • I still have my original 7" EEE PC somewhere in storage (batteries removed). It was the 900mhz model which I imported from Asia. That little thing was so cool, with a little utility I could undervolt and downclock it to 700mhz. That way the fan would never run and the battery time was very long. I absolutely loved that little machine.
