Am a lil optimist folk that likes computers :3 Banner by David Revoy (Check his stuff!)

📌 The best internet hobby in current times is to be an archivist (For cencorship reasons)You should archive media NOW!!!

Alright:

  • I speak in arguments, don't act like a troll and i'll consider chatting.

  • Instance wars are always stupid.

  • Fediverse show his interest if you get a bit out of your comfort zone. Stop circlejerking.

  • Credit artists, that way everyone wins.

  • Don't be chronically online please.

  • Id say K first because developped countries and low poverty areas.

G second because i lived the island life for a few years and it's pretty chill, beyond the underdevelopment and obesity.

H, B and E third, poor countries but not that bad, beyond overpopulated poor areas, Argentina is great and Mexico is good, US is neutral, Canada is win.

D and J fourth, you can live a decent life in those aera but with a very large bit of luck, majority of people live in poverty, oppression, or starvation. South Africa has some racism, but it's not that bad as a place to live.

    A>F>I>C

    is this loss?

  • Lose lose scenario.

Either i become pretty, and cool, and I get kidnapped by the US army for being a potential biological weapon, tortured, and cut in pieces.

Or my waifu becomes real, and get kidnapped by the US army for being a potential biological weapon, and i get interroged, isolated and tortured on how i got contact with this entity.

So i prefer that my waifu stays imaginary. Can't be different and live quietly, on this world 😔

  • I understand the motive, I too am on some niche communities that sometimes didn't have posts for months. For that i use reddit (but the old interface). Now let's see your question.

No, we can't make lemmy as popular as reddit, but we can turn lemmy into a reddit twin, and make it popular, by pushing only one instance like .world.

The social media that popularised fediverse the most was mastodon, and yet it's because they pushed mastodon.social as the default, making a large part of the userbase think that mastodon is only mastodon.social.

People do not even notice things more complicated than buttons "join", "login", or "post". They are lost on join-lemmy.org because they don't know why they should choose a server, read description, understand whatever is federation, and they'll prefer going back to their comfort zone.

But hey, social media experience enshittifies as the userbase gets bigger, and i came here by fleeing reddit so please don't

  • All the AI drawings have a grainy piss-yellow tone, idk why but it makes the identification easier

  • If you need your id to access internet: not use it anymore, selfhosting go brrr

If you need your id for all content-sharing websites like social media or microblogging: return back to good ol webrings and static websites. Can't kill the web on its core principles. No algorithms, pure passion and creativity.

  • Hot take: the fungi will take over all existing animal and plant life, and create a whole biosphere of fungi. Fungi crustaceans, fungi mammals, fungi plants, fungi amphibians, fungi reptiles, fungi birds.

The fungi humans would have achieved world peace, because there's no genders to create inequalities, and with spores flying everywhere, unwanted infidelity and physical differences are so common that anger and jealousy makes no sense.

  • I was also desperate like you a few years ago.

Now I prepared for all that mentally and physically and i just do with it. They want to get you by isolation. Isolation gives loneliness and allow more control on you. Internet is perfect to make the world your enemy, as long as you are only spoonfed by their algorithms. After all, anger and hopelessness are the most impactful emotions.

The solution? You also already have it. Choosing what you want to see. The fediverse is that. The others who ignore warnings? They will figure it out the hard way. Or not. Anyways victims are always needed in large numbers for resistance to hide.

Talking about it, now is the time to gather your "resistance"! A common accessory, gesture, try to organize a local network of truth to preserve values of freedom and knowledge safe from corporate control and to not be isolated!

Personally, already living on a place where internet is slow and unstable, I would not be too bothered about stopping using internet at all.

Kiwix for wikipedia at home, ytmp3 downloaders or bandcamp to own your music, piracy and artist support (instead of buying without owning and giving half your money to some corporation) to own your films and games.

(But most of all, support your local library/media library/culture space! And don't hesitate to make sometimes public essays about things of your interests, many cultural spaces accept that on some hours! I made IRL friends who love astronomy like me that way! The social media brainrotted people won't come to theses places so it'll be easier.)

As for the web, this is a place to share your thoughts, but not too much. A paper diary or a notebook is the best place to write and share your thoughts without letting them be used against you. Plus it allows to calm down and be yourself. A secred garden, where your free speech will always exist, hidable or destroyable in a matter of seconds from authorities. You should always have some freedom on your hands. But don't tell about it to anyone IRL!

  • I agree on how annoying can be thoses doing constant whataboutism about US to glorify China, like "everything bad that happened here is propaganda made by western and shit" things (blocking is the way, it's always the sames, eh yogthos?).

I joined .ml originally only because i read the description and it was appealing for me "A community of privacy and FOSS enthusiasts, run by Lemmy’s developers"

Understood later in meant marxist leninists but at least I see opinions from all sides there and they doesn't bother me that much so i stayed.

But again can we avoid another pointless instance war? We're stronger together and the fediverse is better federated.

  • From what i've heard, with the aging population in developed countries and the birthrate getting lower due to longer life expectancy, population should soon stabilise itself around 10 billions. Seems viable.

  • Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication (a bit ironic when you consider this quote comes from Apple).

Steam is fun and all, minecraft is a great game, but goddamn, i have a 10kbps at home, and network is unstable where i live, why can't i play my fcking game "licence" which is not even online based, because the network decided to stop??

I prefer from far a simple folder with assets and a .exe that i will put on my desktop with a shortcut.

What an application is supposed to be anyways.

  • You must show your id to access NSFW subreddits!

    "oh no!"

changes www.reddit.com to old.reddit.com on the adress bar

    "anyways"

Tho i remember when they removed compact reddit. But i think if they remove old.reddit.com, people will really start to leave, so they'll try to get rid of it quietly.

  • It will become boring if you think that nothing can be done. Even if creating isn't a profession anymore (as in doing comissions or paid media like someone else said), the simple fact of drawing to show your love to something, to give a visual representation of your thoughts, it will never dissapear. Everyone seems hopeless, by the fact that they are all trapped in the social media loop. Life seem empty and boring if your only source of entertainment come from media consumption (which is the case for a lot from the rat race unfortunately)

But we all will find a way out, and creativity will always matter. Maybe not for the next decades, but someday it will. Trust me ;)

  • I just think theses people(who use AI to make "art") does not have enough courage and perfectionism to get into drawing.

"Why bother putting hours in drawing learning, if the magical AI can draw the meme I ask it instantly?"

"Why bother buying a telescope and putting hours in astronomy theory if you can see better space images for free on internet?"

"Why bother doing a marathon, if i can just take my car and go there faster?"

For everything, you need to invest enough of your time in it so start liking it. The majority of people only have a few hobbies.

They see art as a way to be popular for the nerds who are skilled enough to draw. They see astronomy as a way to be popular for the nerds who learned astrophotography. They see sport as a way to be popular for the nerds who are fit enough to run.

For them, one thing that seemed innaccessible, became accessible with AI. I know it's sad, but theses people don't care if something has a soul or not. They just want their eye-appealing ghibli portrait.

Here's a good blog article that better conveys my point of view.

  • Thanks you again for this year, it's the first time it is that full! Less bugs than last year and the first time i saw actual diplomacy between communities! Oh and happy birthday!

  • Good job!

  • Im doing that

  • Now i propose we do small touhou characters on the sides. I do reimu and marisa under thetouhou x linux sign

  • Hey about the Tux (the penguin) we're allies, do not draw that part of the template!
