  • President America sounds like an alternative name to Cheeseburger Freedom Man

  • Nah, he was a great anti-Stalinist socialist. Sure he had some flaws, but the list was mostly of Stalinist sympathizers and people unfit for counterpropaganda.

  • And there we go with the whataboutism again. Typical. This is about Huawei and the proven security risks, not the US. So stop deflecting to the US.

  • Against. It is one thing to get rid of clear propaganda sites like Breitbart, RT, WSWS, IRNA and possibly PressTV too. But you cant be going around demanding to ban media outlets that do high factual reporting and are generally considered to be centrist because the owner company is conservative.

When Politico starts posting Fox News, Welt or Bild level crap, then we can talk about restrictions.

  • Well when everyone is pretty far left on Lemmy, then it is no surprised that media sources that are considered center left are perceived as right wing. Spinger is pretty right leaning, yet they still have a few moderate or left of center media houses under their wing.

  • Wrong. Not only is Huawei a state owned enterprise but it regularly relays user info to China. So it is not unreasonable to believe Huawei may be spying on people. Additionally, Reporters Without Borders tells reporters to be extra cautious with Huawei devices and best not use them.

Also your whataboutism is just a sign of bad faith.

  • Watch out Germany. We are going to have marriage tourism!

  • Last I checked, MLs aren't leftists. Favoring state capitalism and totalitarianism comes closer to fascism than to anything left.

  • In opinion polling, TISZA is getting way more than Fidesz. They are leading by 12 to 14%.

While TISZA is still conservative, the hopes are that they are at least not as authoritarian and are more democracy oriented than Fidesz. Plus if they manage to do a coalition with at least social liberals, it could ease up the media control and undo some of the LGBT restrictions.

  • Wtf is a virtual power plant supposed to be?

  • They have a naive stance towards Russia. Also wanting to not send weapons to Ukraine which is defending itself can be easily understood as being a tool for Russia. You dont go to someone who is being beaten up and tell them to negotiate with their attacker. You either step into to assist the victim or you give the victim a means to defend themself against the attacker.

  • Dogmatism is why anarchists and tankies are (luckily) only small groups in Germany. People constantly engaged in book clubs, circlejerks and detachment from the plight of actual working class people is why certain left groups are not winning people over.

Die Linke actually did a decent job recently in regards to pragmatism and I wish them and the Greens further growth.

  • Also it is not a sourced news article.

  • Even with Pflegegeld, you often wont have enough for a nursing home.

  • Retaliatory measures will put Tesla in hot water anywhere in northern or western Europe.

  • I can't even find a contact email because this article is just so blatantly false that it makes me angry and I want to write a complaint.

  • 3500€ is like twice the average pension and more than normal people earn a month in Germany.

Also in Germany, there is a lot of negligence in nursing homes. I also wouldn't trust NatGeo on info about Europe anymore.

If you want a reliable source about how things are in Europe, try DW (Deutsche Welle).

  • This is not how nursing homes are in Germany. They are overpriced shitholes where seniors go to rot and be abused. My grandmother had to stay in one temporarily and they billed her 5000€ for six weeks.

She said her experience was so awful, she'd rather die than be in one.
