  • The moon is a fourth the size of Earth. Even if we had the infrastructure and technology (spoiler, we don’t), we can’t even make a tiny tiny tiny tiny dent in the moon, at least in the next hundred years or so. Heck, nuking the moon with every nuke humanity has won’t even make a noticeable dent in the moon!

  • Modern Firefox is more “modern” looking than Chrome in my opinion. Also, iirc each tab is now its own thread.

  • Still not vegan though.

  • From Wikipedia*: In a 2020 post, Lemmy's co-creator Dessalines wrote about the origin of the name Lemmy. "It was nameless for a long time, but I wanted to keep with the fediverse tradition of naming projects after animals. I was playing that old-school game Lemmings, and Lemmy (from Motorhead) had passed away that week, and we held a few polls for names, and I went with that."[8]

  • Yeah I guess. But there are some hybrids that charge via EV plug. My point still stands either way.

  • Well, if you drive a hybrid, have you ever thought of where your electricity comes from? Probably a very inefficient coal or natural gas plant! Also, its not the gas gauge, its the engine heat gauge lol.

Point is, don’t fret over your fossil fuel usage. Big corporations use more fossil fuels a day than you will ever use in your lifetime, even if you drive a fuel guzzling truck.

  • Later this august, actually. Yes, I am aware of it. I really like Fedora, so I’m going to give it a spin ASAP.

  • Nice cut, Memmy.

  • That’s preposterous. Even the new ARM Macs let you install Linux (although they don’t supply any drivers, leave the devs to reverse engineer everything, which means the only currently supported Linux distro is Asahi Linux (Arch). But thats still better than locking the BIOS/whatever bootloader Chromebooks use.)

  • ChromeOS has been out for over a decade. Its not “new”, many schools actually used it before the pandemic.

  • Well, its China. 99% of parents will enable it if given the choice.

  • I kmow, aytocoeect is tarsh amd udeless!

  • Hm, where does https play in though? Most, if not all, popular websites now use encryption. If Alice were to access Bob’s site via ham radio and his site uses https, is Alice breaking the law?

  • Yep, without the source instance, you can’t communicate with other instances.

  • Heh, heh

  • Hey, ventilation ducts need to eat too!

  • Huh, that could work pretty well! Gaskets would need to be secured and sealed well though, and I fail to imagine what an iPhone or any other modern device would look like with a removable battery lol.

  • How? Currently, waterproofing works by slathering every crack and crevice in a sea of glue. Glue and easily replaceable batteries don’t mix.
