  • That's like saying a forcing people to get a license to drive only encourages people to drive without one. Most people follow the law especially if the fee is small. The concealed permit is $50 so it's definitely not going to be higher than that. Renewal is $13. That's not exactly breaking the bank. And if that is too high for some, maybe have your local John Brown Gun Club subsidize the cost for people who can't afford it.

  • Taking a class reinforces the lesson that guns are not toys and need to be stored appropriately and safely. That will help prevent theft and also the biggest group for accidental gun deaths is toddlers because people don't view their gun as deadly. The permits can also be used in conjunction with removing guns from people who are violent.
