  • you wrote a shitty thing, got called out for it, and now you're playing victim and then going off on me for it? Holyshitballs, my dude, you have a complex.

You wrote and implied that they're barbarians. Choosing to use culturally charged language like "barbarity" to describe impoverished people of a 3rd world country. Might as well have just dogwhistled that they're "savages". That's how it can be read. Might I suggest YOU don't do that in the future. And maybe YOU need to log off, because YOU have problems. You don't have the right to police a goddamn thing I say.

If what you wrote can be misread, that's YOUR fault for wording it badly.

  • why tf are you coming off so hostile at me? Jesusfuck man, go touch some grass. Acting like I'M the one, personally, who put these people in this impossible situation and attacking the hell out of me for nothing. You need some help.

  • I mean, the choice is, that or all the other children starve and die.

It's an impossible situation. Sophie's choice, trolley problem, call it whatever.

But I don't think anything is gained by calling the parents making this decision barbarians. If they had options they likely would not be forced to choose in this manner. What is worth your criticism and admonishment is the governments who create these conditions, and the kind of people who see this suffering as an opportunity to buy a child wife. Totally justified calling those people barbarians.

  • I did buy the book tho.... it's with all the other books... I'll read them at some point....

  • okchamp.

  • you're just be pedantic. The issue isn't about it being "mostly", it's about if its a "men's" thing. A 42/58 isn't that wide of a gap to say that it's one gender's thing. As the difference could likely just be attributed to other cultural factors and not the thing itself.

If office workers were split 42/58, you wouldn't call it a "man's" job, even if technically there's more men.

  • eyyy there goes $140 million dollars just so the chuds could take their chud-to-be tax burden kids to gawk at the military propaganda while saying "whooooa look at da airpwane"

  • I think you need help if you're this offended over a person's opinion about how long a D&D session should be. Especially when you know youre an extreme outlier, right? Like, you have to know that your anecdotal experience of 12 hour sessions is far far far from the norm, right?

Like, really? Good for you dude, but like, this much energy and sass? Over this? Bit dramatic. Go take your lithium.

  • Oh, got it, youre just a literal child. Of course you know everything.

  • A chromebook is an open invitation for all manner of distraction. The convenience is a double-edged sword. Having tablet like tech to work through also means it's just as easy to go do something else rather than the task at hand. In addition, the school chromebooks are controlled by the school admin, and not the parents, more on that later.

With a book or some kind of physical medium, switching to a different thing means physically changing what you're doing and interaction with. With a chromebook it's as simple as opening up a new tab. And since the environment hasn't changed (still at the desk on a the chromebook) it's far too easy to lose track of time. They're not mode-switching, they're just switching tabs.

This is disaster, especially for children who already lack impulse control; because they're children. Kind of one the main hallmarks of being a child. It's exponentially worse for neurodivergent children, especially those with ADHD. Class/Homework/Textbook is boring? Open up a tiktok/youtube/etc tab... hours are gone. HOURS.

So the solution should be "well okay, the just block those things". But you can't... because you (as the parent) are not the chromebook admin, the school is. "Then you should just watch them", you're right, but ya know what would be better? If they weren't doing their work on a machine that was so easily for them be distacted. Schools shouldn't be giving children the tools to consume hours of brainrot, give the parents no controls in the mattter and just go "welp, figure it out".

A child using paper and pencil has to physically change what they are doing and their focus. That's mode switching. And it provides a focus barrier helping kids remain on task or at the very least track time (like with a pomodoro timer).

  • Absolutely.

  • an 8 hour D&D session is insane... do you hate your DM?

8 hours in a week seems reasonable. 8 hours in one day, for one session? That's too much. I don't even know how you get a table full of players all the schedule that much time. 3-4 hour long sessions sounds reasonable.

  • Softcore porn is still porn.

You're just desensitized due to the modern internet and years of hard-core video pornography. What used to be hard-core porn 20 years ago is the standard average faire on every site today. And what used to be considered porn is "tasteful vanilla" now.

Playboy has always been a porn magazine. You just dont get off to it because you watch too much hard-core porn on the hub.

So, anyways, I dont feel bad being dismissed by a massive gooner.
