  • Nobara is great, based on fedora so very stable and fairly up to date with many built in gaming features and no after install setup required to get gaming. https://nobaraproject.org/

Running it for over a year now on my gaming rig and very happy

  • Ridiculous statement. 100-110fps is far above playable. Do people forget how Witcher, Crysis and others ran on release?

  • Starfield has starting traits for house payments and payments to your parents. 😬

  • So do you just want to complain about skyrim? The game runs fine on my and many others deck and runs great on good hardware. I have a 6700xt + 5800x3d on my desktop and it runs great without any issues (GE Proton 8.3) as it does for many others aswell. The game is fine, if it does not run on adequate hardware under linux you might have to troubleshoot on your end.

  • Doesn't matter, you are still effected by this issue since any images from communities you or anyone else on your instance follows get cached on your server, doesn't matter if you actually looked at them or not. I would advise you to look into this if you are the instance admin and didn't know this by now.

  • I guess? Maybe running out of VRAM and using RAM, that's generally a huge issue.

  • Skyrim runs absolutely fine on the deck, you might have an issue with your Setup.

  • Unrelated comment, is it normal for US media or politic discussion to attribute everything to the current president? It's kind of weird to me as a European because here this is mostly done by oppositional media and even then mostly by right leaning ones to discredit.

  • Yes, so it would if it gets posted to any community you follow yourself. This is an absolute cluster fuck and not worth it if you are not prepared to deal with moderating illegal stuff even on your one user instance. Some people are just way too naive and ignorant of the laws around stuff like this. In Europe your are way more at risk as a platform/website provider/hoster than you are in the US and this can bite you in the ass really hard if you are unlucky.

  • Yes, sometimes it might help to have multiple providers on different backbones if you run into availability issues.

There are currently no legal cases in Germany against Usenet like with copyrighted material and torrenting, that's mostly because you don't distribute with Usenet.

  • scenenzbs is great, also has many files with English+German audio, marked as DL or dual language.

  • Or you know, just get a dedicated gps device like Inreach for a a few hundred $ one time + gps plan as you need. I wouldn't rely on my iPhone for truly expedition like situations you actually plan for.

  • For the Microsoft SaaS, PaaS and Is as services you don't have to worry about regular updates at all, it's for the most part completely invisible to the customer unless someone screws up.

There are some instances of planned maintenance where the customer can take action to assure smooth operations. In azure you can check/configure notifications under the "service health" menu. Upcoming planned maintenance or unplanned issues would show up here with instructions on what to do. Sometimes, but very rarely, there are maintenance tasks where your services might require a restart, you can then plan that restart yourself or get a rug pull on the deadline, usually 1-2 months after the notification.
