Yeah...
I don't think it will harm economic growth (it's just Goggle, Microsoft etc who won't get maintenance and sys admin contracts, plenty of other probably will) . But let's entertain Google's point of view: even if we sacrifice a bit of economic growth, at least we'll not get blackmailed by those who threaten us.
Whereas right now?
We're threading very muddy waters.
That's good to keep it fixed value. The transfers are decentralised but it is attached to something real. All the benefits of crypto without the dangers.
Because it's all a waste of dev time, over the past year the french government made all kink of foss tools instead of helping out pre-existing projects.
I'm in constant face palm mode with them. Remember their collaborative suite? remember their e2e messenger?
Of course you don't. Because they are irrelevant! Even within french public services.
I haven't heard them say what format will be included in the torrent, say it's 20 TB blocks of secured archival format. Then you would have to download that full volume ( at least, there are ways to force you to download the full 15 set of 20 TB archives) before decompressing it and see files as is, that would rendering streaming or casual downloading impossible under current tech.
And that's ok.
Anna's archive isn't there to cater to today's wants but to protect what might disappear tomorrow.
This is natural, but those in power are under a delusion: there will be a change at the mid-terms and then the next presidential election. The same one they had with Trump's first presidency.
It's bonkers how they never learn and how much they seem convinced that there will be mid-terms and a next presidency when everything points to a slow but constant regime change.
Play services are not necessary to run correctly and effectively android. Notifications can also not be handled by Google (unified push exists), payment platform can also not be google, curve is there.webview: I know at least two other webviewers that can be used, phone projection through USB to an monitor is now within AOSP, or you meant android auto and good news: there is now a way to get it outside of Google and degoogled roms are starting to push it forward.
Android can be OK: FOSS is acceptable as it's international cooperation that propels it and source code can be reviewed by European cyber security agencies.
Linux is not European because it happened to start there nor is KDE European because it happens to have a german HQ, the code is what matters and the code is written and reviewed by Devs all over the world.
I get your point but It's the wrong sub.
You do understand that this sub is more about buying/using European designed/made things, services rather than just avoiding US GAFAMS products.
Oh.. ESA has plenty of heavy lifting capacity and beyond lower orbit. That's not the limiting factor. Launch base close to the equator and the Ariane 5 series of rocket ( comparable to lift of falcon 9) that was meant to carry the Hermes shuttle. Ariane 6 is coming along nicely. The sat internet Europe is aiming at is not as low orbit intensive as Musk's endeavour, it's a mix with geo stationary satellites doing a lot of heavy lifting for non critical latencies and low orbit satellites dealing with triaging to reduce latency for critical uses( in which case the data path stays close to earth ).
As Stallman said: " it's free as in Free speech not as in Free beer".
Money in FOSS keeps projects going.
But as another said: in the case of LLM agents, monetisation is a way to get the automated skimming out of their lives. It eats resources, time, causes havoc on hosts...
Or, simply don't create value for used pixel devices by not buying them. Buying used phones of one brand will make it's resell value for up. People like new phones with a good resell value, people buy those phones. Buying a used pixel gives money to Google.
