I'm burnt out trying to go the standard mile, even. Because corpo now expects everyone to fill in for the two others that left, so we're all on triple workload. Forget about any extra miles.
I am a worker ant in a colony of ten thousand ants. There is no chance in hell that my voice will be heard. On the contrary: if I make too much noise, I will be purged.
It's not my circus. If corpo wants to run crappy bloatware (Win11) then that's on them. And they do. Shrug.
You are thinking from a technical point of view. I agree there, but this is not about "can you?"
Corporations don't care about workers. They care about security and legal stuff. So you will use their officially sanctioned OS and tools, or you will be fired for violating their policies. There's no arguing that.
Small businesses don't have such policies, and workers have freedoms. That's where you can do these things. But big organisations are lost to us. Accept or leave.
Corpo says use Windows, you have to do that. Circumvent it and you are going to get fired. Even using a nonstandard browser, or whatever, can get you in hot water. Corpo protect their legal standing, workers are irrelevant.
"rich elites" don't do the actual work. That's what I mean. There must be hordes of non-rich non-elites doing that work. And surely they can't all be magats.
What I don't understand is that "the media" is staffed by ordinary people that are suffering as much as everyone else. Every single one of these organisations has the option to disagree, but nobody does. It's impossible that they are all staffed only by by magats - why doesn't anything happen against this fascism?
Git, Paperless, UniFi Controller, Pihole, Mattermost chat, Immich, Home Assistant, Frigate, Syncthing, Hoarder. Just stuff for myself, my home, and my friends. And 🏴☠️
