  • Got any books in this direction?

  • Hard to say... butI am 100% sure that adult content would be more expensive than any useful knowledge.

  • There was one case in the last 3 years that I thought about getting one. I started running and hated having to need my phone on me and needed a watch either way.

Then I went to dinner and saw how a friend was continuously and unconsciously flicking their eyes down at their smartwatch every few minute if they weren't talking and decided against it. I'm getting old...

  • The ethics board does not approve the message.

  • Can foot and mouth pass through the meat and cheese? I thought food products remained safe during F&M outbreaks...

  • AR was pre-NFT in my mind. Google glasses etc were hyped like crazy before VR took over the hype and was meant to be a "revolution" in gaming...

  • I remember this archaic shit. Now every bank in a larger town I visit in Europe has an automatic counter which is free for the bank's customers.

  • Same shit as "natural gas". Don't worry, it's organic certified!

  • I mean the logical explanation is that companies are filling up their warehouses as much as possible before the tarrifs hit. It's not like the US has suddenly tripled the amount of foreign goods it buys.

    *Edit: weird typo.

  • I mean to be fair, having the CEO of a company who can significantly influence national policy is worth a hell of a lot of value!

  • The same thing happens with any stock which people don't like. Same thing happened with the Anheuser-Busch stocks during the whining about corporate pandering.

From April to October 2023 when the "boycott" started, their shares fell ~15%. By December, they were back to where they started.

Most news is not news, just emotional clickbait. I find Reuters and AP News take a fair bit (but not all) of the emotion out and make for a less triggering read.

  • ...did you just compare almdudler to mountain dew?... !Austria@feddit.org, schaut doch alle her!

  • Thanks for the response! Is it limited to encoding services then, so if I'm only dealing with streaming common media file types (e.g. MKV, MP4) is it still a problem? I'm not dealing with a ridiculous amount of media, so I could outsource the encoding process alone if needed...

  • I'm specifically looking into this at the moment as I have been gifted a pi 5.

Most websites say avoid trying to host jellyfin on a pi 5 (codec and hardware issues are frequently noted). Do you have experience that shows these are non-issues?

  • Not sure if /s, but this could be from a time before phones were widely available and getting a doctor meant leaving the victim for a substantial amount of time.

  • If you have €2k/month spare to throw into an ETF recommended by strangers, maybe you should have a financial advisor? it all depends on your acceptable risk and long term expectations.

  • Agreed.

Also to point out that Anime itself doesn't really help its own cause here. Every show, even the decent ones, will have some weirdly out-of-the-blue softcore porn scene or outrageous outfit on an underaged high school student with oversized proportions, which does nothing to bring the story further, before they go back to the best fight scene you've seen this decade.

  • That's somehow even worse than my original mental image. Great work science!

  • I understand the sentiment you are going for, but I think it is a little cheap regarding the opinion of 300 million+ people.

In my horribly narrow opinion, the American freedom is simply the freedom to choose. Nothing more, nothing less. The freedom to own a tiger, buy a tank or be "Florida man" for a day.

It is not "free" from manipulation and sometimes it really feels like a 5 year old choosing to do the opposite of the right thing just "because".

Sidenote: I ABSOLUTELY do not think it is the best way to build a nurturing society, but I get why it has such a passionate supporter base.
